Week 11! We are getting closer to the national championship title. While we are half way through the competition, the tenth week saw the unexpected. Several undefeated teams saw their winning streaks come to an end, while others enjoyed the benefits of a bye week, allowing them to regroup and strategize. Who do you think will take the title home? With the stakes higher than ever, experts and analysts are doing their job to predict which team will ultimately win. However, each passing week, the dynamics change, and with that, the college football rankings change as well. Who is leading the table this week? Before that, this week’s CFB playoff ranking system has come under scrutiny as analyst Josh Pate agrees with Greg McElroy’s theory on the loophole in the rankings system.
You might know that every week, Josh Pate comes with his won college football rankings called the JP Poll. Similarly, on November 6, he posted this week’s rankings on his YouTube channel, Josh Pate’s College Football Show. But wait, he not only discussed the rankings but pointed out the loophole in ESPN’s rankings and backed McElroy, an ESPN commentator and a former NFL player.
“I was also watching the ESPN reveal. I was watching those guys as the numbers came out. I think it was McElroy who got a little worked up about it; yeah, he didn’t get really worked up. He didn’t yell or anything, but he was just pointing out some differences he had, in theory, with the committee. And Galloway was really quick to say, Relax. You know, relax. It’s just the first round.”

Further, Pate argues that producers should guide commentators to prioritize viewership and engagement rather than downplaying the importance of rankings by adding, “Well, first off, a producer should be in his ear saying, No man, like we’re about viewership here. Don’t tell everyone. This doesn’t matter. Wait till the end. That’s kind of the antithesis of what we’re trying to do from a traffic driving standpoint.”
Amid all this, McElroy did get it right, and Pate noticed that. “But number two, McElroy was right. It does matter where you stack this up. You can tell me all you want to that these committee members start with a blank slate every time they go in those rooms.” The main issue with the committee’s first list has been how some teams have been undeservedly stacked in the 12-team pool despite others having a better season. Naturally, you’d think that there would be a correction down the line, but how sure can one be?

Oregon Ducks top November 5 committee rankings
Week 10 was an exciting week of college football. Many teams got the reality check, which led to some big changes in this week’s top 25 rankings. Ohio State successfully put the full stop to the Penn State Nittany Lions winning streak. Did you see that coming? Although Penn State started strong, Ohio State made a comeback in the second half.

On the other hand, No. 10 Texas A&M joined the top 25 teams for the very first time this season. According to the new rankings issued by the NCAA, Alabama isn’t in the top 10. Isn’t that shocking to you? However, after the bye week, they are going to play a significant game against LSU, who are now at the No. 15 rank.
Even Miami’s ranking is questionable with a 9-0 record; they are sitting at No. 4, but why? On the other hand, Oregon Ducks are leading the playoff rankings this week with 9-0. Although Oregon’s offense was struggling, and it took a few weeks for the quarterback Dillon Gabriel and the O-line to find the rhythm, he made a comeback this week. Dan Lanning and his squad have established themselves as one of the top teams in the country. The impressive 9-0 record speaks a lot about their hard work and resilience so far. Gabriel has thrown for 2371 yards and scored 18 touchdowns so far. Will they continue to maintain the streak and be in the top position next week as well?
