Garrett Nussmeier’s girlfriend started the hype train on New Year’s Eve for the Texas Bowl game with her “Last one for the 2024 season” statement. Well, she wasn’t just making idle chatter. Not only did the season end for LSU, but it ended on a HIGH NOTE for good. The LSU Tigers quarterback absolutely lit up the scoreboard, throwing for 304 yards and 3 TDs to lead LSU to a 44-31 victory over Baylor. He was a baller all night, silencing any haters who questioned his decision to return to school instead of cashing in with the NFL. Nussmeier’s girlfriend, understandably, was over the moon. She showered him with love on Instagram after he was crowned MVP. The rest of the SEC? Not so happy. They know Nussmeier is gonna be a problem next season.

Ella Springfield, Garrett Nussmeier’s girlfriend, took to Instagram to praise her boyfriend, who gave his all for the LSU program. She believes his dedication deserves national recognition. Following the win, Ella, Garrett Nussmeier’s girlfriend, showed some serious love as she posted, “No one more deserving @garrettnussmeier” alongside a video of him holding the Texas Bowl trophy. It’s clear she really appreciates all the hard work he put in for LSU. He stayed loyal to the Tigers, and now he’s reaping the rewards.

And speaking of rewards, he was just named the winner of the Charles McClendon Most Valuable Player award at LSU’s annual Football Awards Show this Saturday. After throwing for 3,739 yards and 26 touchdowns this season, it’s no surprise. And through it all, Springfield stood by the QB’s side.

Springfield and Nussmeier might have thought about leaving Baton Rouge initially. And the timing was perfect—Springfield had just graduated from LSU in December with a marketing degree, specializing in sales. But Nussmeier’s plan changed in some way, and now his sweetheart would be leaving LSU to pursue her more ambitious academic goals. Does Springfield find her boyfriend’s decision to stay upsetting? Not at all!

Instead, she created an Instagram post with the message, “Came for the player, stayed for the lifelong memories and friendships made,” expressing her happiness for him. It appears that Springfield believes in their relationship and love. But there is still a doubt over Nussmeier’s MVP honor from the Texas Bowl. Is it the game-winning touchdown, or is it those 304 passing yards that really helped him win?

LSU football surged off to a 14-point lead over Baylor before the crowd inside NRG Stadium could settle in. The Tigers took an early two-score lead thanks to a pick-6 by LSU LB Davhon Keys a few plays after the offense, led by sophomore QB Nussmeier, marched straight down the field for a touchdown on the game’s first drive.

In the end, LSU crushed the Bears in the Texas Bowl—they were in control the whole time. LSU has now won all three of their bowl games under head coach Brian Kelly. For the second year in a row, Nussmeier was excellent in the bowl game.

But then he threw a pick in the third, and Baylor’s drive to close the gap died when the snap went bad on a fourth-and-one at the LSU seventeen. However, three touchdowns helped to control the situation. Chris Hilton Jr. caught a touchdown pass and finished with 113 receiving yards for the Tigers, while Nussmeier tossed the other two scores to Trey’Dez Green.
