Did the Longhorns just prove they're the real deal with that crushing win over Michigan?

Could Steve Sarkisian be slowly inching towards the “next Nick Saban” title? We saw how the Longhorns dominated against the Wolverines with a 31-12 win. Sarkisian’s roster managed to break through the 15-0 monster and their defenses and grabbed the win on the home turf. You gotta give it up for Steve Sarkisian. It ain’t no wonder why Nick Saban had such high praise for Sark and his boys. We saw what they are capable of and the fans now know it as well.

Cause on September 8th, Hook’em Headlines took to X to share how the Longhorns fandom got together to serenade ‘Eys of Texas’ after the massive win. “Texas fans showing out with the Eyes of Texas after the convincing 31-12 win over Michigan today at the Big House!” Hook’em wrote in the caption of their post. All the fans got together to sing the song as the Longhorns have made them proud with their 2nd season game win. Sarkisian has all the right to brag about this win. He even did so a few hours back when we got an update on X that Sark had noted, “This is who we are. This is how we know how to play.” The chemistry that his roster showcased on Michigan’s home turf was breathtaking. The O-line and the defense didn’t even allow the Wolverines to rush that much and stopped them at a rushing yard of 80.

But much of the credit has to be given to Quinn Ewers. That quarterback proved why he is still on the run for the Heisman Cup. He pulled in 3 TDs and had 24-36 accurate plays. Against a national champion, this is a big deal. Back in 2023, Ewers had the perfect pairing with his receivers Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell. However, both of them had moved to the NFL this year and people wondered if Ewers would manage to keep up the chemistry. Heck yeah, he did. He and Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden felt like matches made in heaven. While the winners party it up, what is happening on the other side? This was the second game for Michigan and no one had thought that the team would do this badly.

Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines’ downfall started?

A few hours after the game, an account on X brought us Moore’s perspective of the entire game. “It’s a loss. We haven’t lost in a long time. Our kids feel it, they feel it more than anybody,” Moore had apparently mentioned post-game. The entire thing does come as a shock. This is the same roster that had managed to grab an undefeated run last year.

Yes, they indeed had offensive mastermind Jim Harbaugh and QB JJ McCarthy. However, this entire loss against the Longhorns feels like the staff back at Michigan just didn’t put in enough effort to build up their team properly. It is true that the Wolverines still have a lot of games on their schedule and they might be able to make a comeback. However, this loss will stand as a reminder of Moore’s inability to fill Harbaugh’s shoes.
