It’s December, but things are heating up in Texas. After Texas A&M’s loss in the Lone Star Showdown, their season is over pending a Bowl game. The focus will now inadvertently shift towards recruitment. While the Aggies fought the Longhorns for a spot in the SEC Championship, a plethora of prospects were reportedly in attendance at Kyle Field. Concealed amidst the “12th Man” was the No. 4 wide receiver in his class—Jerome Myles.

The 5-star recruit out of Utah was in College Station on a visit this weekend. This was his 2nd visit, the first one being in the season opener vs Notre Dame. Talk about picking unfortunate times. The receiver is currently committed to USC and has been since September. Despite this commitment and the multiple losses in his presence, Mike Elko’s team is a potential landing spot that’s gaining traction with Myles.

This is according to CFB recruitment expert Steve Wiltfong. In a video for the On3 Recruits’ YouTube channel, Wiltfong discussed Jerome Myles’ visit to Kyle Field and a potential flip from the Trojans. “I got a text earlier today that said they thought Jerome Myles was going to flip to A&M. I checked around with some other sources. Sounds like there’s still some positivity around USC that they’ll keep him in the fold. I think around College Station, there’s some optimism. So we’ll see,” he said.

Steve Wiltfong also expanded upon any other potential suitors that Mike Elko and Lincoln Riley will have to tussle with. “I think maybe Colorado was a program mentioned at one point for Jerome Myles. But A&M is the only one I’m looking at right now. Again, [got] texted earlier today to keep an eye out for the Aggies. But that’s just one source, so I’m trying to get some more on that,” he reiterated. It is worth mentioning that these statements were made before A&M’s loss, which could play a part in the equation.

Jerome Myles’ recruitment isn’t the first time the Aggies and the Trojans have been at either end of a coveted player. Husan Longstreet’s sensational flip in the opposite direction was perhaps subdued by the Bryce Underwood bombshell. Longstreet’s current disposition as Lincoln Riley’s next QB project could play a huge part in how the dominoes fall for Jerome Myles.

The quarterback carousel involving Underwood, Longstreet, and Julian Lewis was the biggest story for the 2025 class. One would imagine that losing a 5-star signal caller in Longstreet would hamper Texas A&M’s ability to lure a wide receiver like Jerome Myles. However, the Aggies have a proverbial Ace up their sleeve.

Helaman Casuga is a quarterback from the ‘26 class who is committed to Texas A&M. Casuga is currently plying his trade at Corner Canyon High School. His no.1 target? Jerome Myles. The two teammates could be enticed to play their college careers together. This is perhaps Mike Elko’s best shot given who he’s up against.

Lincoln Riley’s reputation for developing NFL-caliber talent precedes him. The quarterback whisperer that he is, Riley could well develop Husan Longstreet into a future Heisman winner. The opportunity of being the no.1 target in Lincoln Riley’s offense beckons for Jerome Myles. Some difficult decisions need to be made. Myles’ predicament does not seem one to be envied.
