Did Lee Corso just betray his Hoosier roots, or is he simply being realistic?

College GameDay is incomplete without Corso, and he is back at his job. Today, the football world is going to witness a highly anticipated matchup between Ohio State and Indiana. Naturally, the entire set-up of College GameDay has landed in Columbus, Ohio, for the game. We have some traditions to go through, and a popular one involves everyone’s favorite, Lee Corso. We are here to update you on the latest edition of Corso’s headgear pick, a tradition that dates back to 1996.

Just before the game, College GameDay shared a video of Lee Corso going through the tradition. A rather simple activity. He is given two helmets, each of the Buckeyes and the Hoosiers, and he must throw the helmet of the team he’s picking against to the ground. The helmet that he picks gets a kiss from Corso. Naturally, it’s a big matchup. More than the Ryan Day and Curt Cignetti storylines, what matters for Corso is that he has been on the sidelines of one of the teams featuring at Ohio Stadium today.

However, when deciding his gear pick for today’s game, Corso let go of his bias towards the Hoosiers and instead went with what the local crowd gave him. Cheers when he picked up the Ohio State helmet and boos when he went for the Hoosiers’ helmet. The result? The Hoosiers’ helmet was thrown to the ground, and the Buckeyes’ helmet got a kiss from the Indiana legend. What happened there? Did we just write that? Corso is going against the Hoosiers? Even a local legend isn’t batting for Curt Cignetti’s team in this Week 13 clash.

Corso has served as the head coach of the Hoosiers for more than 7 years. Yes! He has guided the football program from 1973 to 1982. Under his guidance, the 1979 regular season concluded with an impressive 8-4 record, which earned the team a spot in the Holiday Bowl. But the new head coach has made history. By leading Indiana to a 10-0 record. Now that the program is doing well, why so much hate?

Ryan Day VS Curt Cignetti

Indiana vs. Ohio State! From experts to media outlets to fans, everyone in the country has just been talking about the game for the past two weeks. While everyone feels that it is a big game, the “Goggle Me” head coach thinks it is just a game. Yes! Last week, Don Fischer introduced the Hoosiers game with the Buckeyes as “arguably the biggest game in IU gridiron history.”

Cignetti did not like that; he did not hold back and responded,  “I’ve got to take some exception here. ‘The biggest game in IU football history?’  You’re such a media guy. It’s a big game because it’s the next game. It’s the only game coming up, and that makes it a big game.  But what happens is if you keep becoming successful, the meanings of the next game and the next game keep becoming bigger.  It’s just the next game.” As soon as Cignetti made this statement, it went viral and, of course, reached Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day.

Did Lee Corso just betray his Hoosier roots, or is he simply being realistic?

Have an interesting take?

Considering the hype, Pat McAfree said that “this Hoosiers team is the real deal” at The Pat McAfee Show. But he said this in front of Ryan Day when he joined the show in Ohio Stadium. And guess what? Day insistently replied, “So are we.” Ouch, where is this going? Both the coaches are backing their team, and it is their job; however, the game will be live in a few hours, and the results will reveal who is the best this season.
