Is Deion Sanders leaving the Colorado Buffs? Not this time. With the portal moves that Coach Prime and Co. have been making? Paul Finebaum and others can throw their opinion out because Coach Prime is here to say, and he is going to “plant his flag” in Colorado Buffs. The 2024 season was a massive W for Coach Prime and Co. They finally redeemed themselves and now they even got Travis Hunter as the 2024 season’s Heisman winner. Do you know what this does for a program? Yeah, better recruits for the next year’s natty run. See, the biggest hole that Deion Sanders needs to fill is finding a replacement for Shedeur Sanders.

And honestly, with Liberty QB Kaidon Salter committing to the Buffs, that worry can be thrown out the window. However, with the Salter signing, Deion has managed to hit 2 birds with one stone. Back on X, NoSkoZone shared, “Kaidon Salter signing with Colorado could help the Buffs land Texas WR Johntay Cook👀 according to @adamgorney.” A year back from now, if anyone told you that the Buffs managed to flip a player from an SEC team, you would laugh in their face. But this time? It is not a joke. Johntay Cook II is important for Deion’s WR depth. See, Coach Prime is going to lose multiple WRs to the draft. The most notable is Travis Hunter.

Now if Coach Prime has found Shedeur’s replacement, why not search for Hunter’s as well? See, for the Longhorns, Cook only played 6 games, and in that, he managed to snag 2 touchdowns and 137 yards. Yeah, any keen-eye viewer would say that the stats are low, but this guy managed to create quite the buzz because of his speed.

Not only that. Cook is also marked as the rank 13 WR in the transfer portal. Another interesting fact is Cook is regarded as the second-highest freshman WR in the portal with an overall valuation of $387k. See, what makes this entire Colorado route even stronger is the fact that when Salter posted his commitment news, Cook shared that on his Instagram story with the caption: “Ok, ok.”

This could mean that the WR is interested in Deion Sanders’ crew. Keep in mind that Cook is also set to visit the Gators. This could pose some problems for Deion Sanders, but this honestly won’t be the first time Coach Prime has flipped away a recruit from an SEC team.

Can Deion Sanders' recruiting magic lead the Buffs to a national championship in 2025?

Have an interesting take?

You know what they say: one man’s loss is another man’s gain. Kalen DeBoer and Bama ending the year with a 9-3 run meant there would be some severe consequences, and the instant the portal opened up, we all saw what they were.

A total of 14 different players left the Tide to hit the portal. However, out of the 14, DL Jehiem Oatis was also the 11th-ranked DL. A 4-star coming from Bama to Colorado Buffs. We do want to point out that Oatis didn’t leave the program during the portal exodus. Rather, he red-shirted mid-season and left the Crimson Tide.

However, him picking Buffs was something no one could’ve foreseen. “I am excited to find a new home where I can bring NFL-caliber play and help my future team compete for championships,” Oatis mentioned during an interview.

In the 2 year run with the Tide, the DL managed to rack up around 52 tackles and 5 pass breakups. Bama could’ve used him more, but fate works in mysterious ways. With Nikhai Hill-Green moving out of Colorado, Deion needed someone to fill the spot. Oatis came around during the perfect time.

We cannot wait to see what Coach Prime manages to do with this new revamped roster. They got Salter and Julian Lewis at QB. Hopefully, Cook as the WR. And multiple other recruits as well. Buffs for the 2025 natty? You never know.
