The recent seasons for Ole Miss under their head coach, Lane Kiffin, have seen everything a top program needs. Top ten finishes? Check. Top recruitment classes? Check. Handing their rivals huge upsets? Check. The mood around Ole Miss is that ‘you bring it on,’ and Kiffin will handle it. The head coach not only produced three 10-win seasons in five years. But also did it in quite an incredible fashion, producing an offense that was just a treat to watch. His no-huddle, up-tempo offense led Jaxson Dart to produce more than 4,500 yards, and he will probably have his name taken in the 2025 NFL draft’s first round. But the most iconic thing the head coach did in 2024 was something else.

The Georgia Bulldogs were already heavily favored to win the game against Ole Miss, having ranked No. 3 in the preseason poll. The Dawgs, led by their QB Carson Beck, entered the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, hoping to play just another ‘regular’ game and walk unscathed from there. But trouble rained down that day as Ole Miss’s defense didn’t allow Beck to achieve the flow required. Multiple sacks were made, and tackles flowed effortlessly.

The game ended 10-28, with Carson Beck managing just 20 passes out of 31 and having a 57.3 QB rating. The game concluded, and Beck now moved on and will play for Miami. But the ghosts of the past of the UGA game don’t seem to leave the QB alone. Take, for example, a recent interview where Lane Kiffin brought it up again. The head coach was talking to the host of ‘The Pivot’ podcast, Channing Crowder, a former Miami Dolphins linebacker. Channing then brought up how college players these days make more money than NFL athletes.

When Channing said that Beck was making $4.3 million in Miami after his Georgia transfer. Kiffin interjected and dropped a bombshell. The head coach asked, “Miami giving him (Beck) $4.4 million?” To which the host replied with a nod, and Kiffin sarcastically remarked, “Did they watch his game against us?” The remark has sparked wide criticism and polarization over Kiffin’s statement. But. Kiffin’s son, Knox Kiffin, summarized the situation and replied with a single emoji “🤦,” possibly hinting at the mess his father is now going to be in after the bombshell statement.

Knox Kiffin is 16 years old and plays as a quarterback for his high school, Palos Verdes. The budding QB may know one or two things about how the internet works since he also has more than 11K followers on Instagram, and we regularly see the guy attending Ole Miss practices and games, too. In terms of talent, the QB still has to gain experience as he is a 2028 prospect, but seeing the performances he has been putting in, there may be many offers lined up on Knox’s doorstep.

The QB has already received an offer from Mississippi College in Clinton last year in April. Moreover, even Arkansas State, SMU, and Sacramento State had extended an offer to the young QB, as there were rumors about the QB signing an NIL deal. However, it’s crucial for the young quarterback to focus on his football skills at the moment, and when the opportunity arises, Kiffin will undoubtedly guide him at Ole Miss. We saw the rise of Shedeur Sanders under his famed father; we may also see Knox’s rise, too, with Lane Kiffin being the father-mentor figure at Ole Miss.

Lane Kiffin’s comments brew a fresh controversy?

Lane Kiffin excels on the field and is not afraid to voice his opinions. The head coach’s unfiltered opinions may sometimes come as positive, but can also wreak havoc in the footballing world. Take, for instance, the head coach’s earlier statement about the playoff committee, where he said, “Way to keep us on the edge of our seats, Committee. Riveting.”

The head coach even jumped in with his take on Nico Iamaleava and the transfer situation with Tennessee but didn’t say much, considering the delicate nature of the situation. But we all know he wanted to, right? This time, the head coach’s comments on Mario Cristobal and Carson Beck have landed him in trouble, as opinions are greatly divided, with many calling for the head coach to show restraint when speaking on such matters.

The people may be right, too, in many instances. We saw the best of Carson Beck in the 2023 season, where he passed at an efficiency of 72.4% and delivered more than 4,000 yards. Last season may be a bit of a downgrade for the former Dawgs QB, but we all know he isn’t solely to blame. The Dawgs’ receiver unit dropped passes all over, as they dropped 37 passes this season. Additionally, the offensive line failed to protect the QB. So, all in all, maybe the $4.3 million tag isn’t justified, but if anyone deserves it in this CFB world, then it’s Carson Beck. However, Carson Beck’s personal issues are a different matter entirely.
