Y’all remember the 2023 Dawgs vs Rebels game? Kirby Smart and his boys were running all over Lane Kiffin and his team. It was so bad that Ole Miss suffered a 52-17 defeat against Smart’s team. Rebels’ defense could not handle the Dawgs’ offense rush, with Carson Beck pulling in 2 touchdowns and Kendall Milton grabbing 2 touchdowns. The worst performance came from QB Jaxson Dart. 112 yards, zero touchdowns, and giving out an interception. This year though? Lane Kiffin is back with a vengeance and he is gonna make sure all his players stay on that turf till the end. And this brings us to the current Dawgs vs Rebels showdown.
Early in the game, Dart had to exit because of an ankle injury. Backup QB Austin Simmons came in and brought in a touchdown for the team. Now, naturally, you would think that Kiffin will be using Simmons for the rest of the showdown, right? Yeah, well, Dart was brought out again when the Rebels went for the third drive. This did not work out as planned. Back on X, Brad Logan mentioned, “Ole Miss QB Jackson Dart is suffering with an ankle injury and had it taped again at halftime.” The injury was re-aggravated as he had to come back in to play against the Dawgs.

Kiffin’s gamble puts the QB’s fate in hot water. If Ole Miss loses their starting QB, then it could end up costing them the entire game. Let’s face it, Carson Beck hasn’t really been pulling his weight this time around. Ever since the Gators game, this guy has become a hit-or-miss for Smart. This is wild because this is the same dude who has managed to average at least 400 yards against a big-time rival like Bama.
Even against the Texas Longhorns, Beck was on point, and Quinn Ewers just couldn’t even come up to his level. Right now, the Dawgs QB has 109 yards under his belt with no touchdowns and game-changing passes. For now, we can spot Dart playing on an optimal level for Kiffin.

Dude has managed to snag a touchdown for Ole Miss, taking the score to 22-10 over one of the biggest teams on the list. Once again we find Georgia trailing behind and this time it feels like their 2nd-half good luck charm ain’t gonna pay off. All thanks to what Kiffin has managed to cook up with the defense.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Lane Kiffin's gamble with Dart's injury a stroke of genius or a reckless move?
Have an interesting take?
Lane Kiffin switching up Ole Miss’ defensive line
Kiffin reached right in and picked the perfect guys to build a D-line that could easily stand up to the Bulldogs. Dawgs are trailing by 12 points on the board and that’s ain’t even the worst part. In terms of rushing yards and passing yards, the Bulldogs have barely scratched the surface.

Smart and Co. have managed to bring in 109 rushing yards as compared to the 263 yards by Ole Miss. Following this, the Dawgs have only hit 56 rushing yards. The best thing about this game is the fact that Ole Miss is barely allowing Beck any time to make throws. If Dart stays in the game, then a win in this clash would finally help him remove the ‘fraud’ tag from his name. We cannot wait to see what the outcome of this game will be.
