Look, not every season ends with confetti—sometimes, you just take the loss and regroup. In 2024, Lane Kiffin experienced the disappointment of Ole Miss missing the playoffs. But while the scoreboard didn’t go his way, life off the field stayed rock solid. His main focus? His son, Knox Kiffin, who is carving his path in college football even before setting foot on it. And Lane is actively involved in it. His latest move? Urging a Big Ten coach to take a hard look at his son. Seems like a dynasty in the making.
Well, Lane Kiffin’s son, Knox, is wasting no time in making his presence felt, too, at the very young age of 17. The quarterback from Palos Verdes High School has become a social media sensation, not just because of his famous last name but because his dad is doing what Lane Kiffin does best: stirring the pot online.
This time, Lane Kiffin dropped a bombshell on X with a clip of Knox slinging the dime. And that’s not the best part. Kiffin tagged Oregon Ducks HC Dan Lanning on that post, urging him to recruit Knox. This is a classic Lane Kiffin move, and it is sure making a lot of buzz. Kiffin is relentless in promoting his son, and who wouldn’t want the best for their kids, especially considering what Dan Lanning is building in Eugene?

It’s evident that Dan Lanning is not just winning; he is stacking up wins like it’s his full-time job. In his three seasons at Oregon, he has accumulated a 35-6 record, boasting an impressive .854 winning percentage, the third-best in the country during that period. He is only the second coach in Ducks history to achieve three consecutive 12-win seasons. Let’s not forget about his quarterback guru, Will Stein. The 35-year-old offensive coordinator has made two back-to-back Heisman-contending quarterbacks, Dillon Gabriel and Bo Nix. Under his guidance, Oregon’s offense has been not just good but downright lethal.
However, Dan Lanning is also responsible for fueling speculations regarding Knox’s future. Few weeks back, the coach took to Instagram to share a photo with Knox and Bulldogs’ head coach Kirby Smart, captioning it, “Picture with ‘him.’” This has added an intriguing twist to the situation, as we all know Smart is definitely the “him” in the SEC coaching carousel, with championship titles. That makes it pretty obvious why Kiffin would want to be a part of that scene.
And it’s not like Knox Kiffin doesn’t already have offers in his hands.

5 programs are already making moves towards Lane Kiffin’s son
Lane Kiffin has remained active during the offseason, juggling recruiting strategies with some enjoyment. Recently, he shared a video of his son Knox Kiffin participating in a private quarterback training session. Knox, who is focused on becoming a quarterback, belongs to the class of 2028 and receives coaching from 3DQB SoCal, a QB development group focused on biomechanics.
Last year, Lane humorously listed Knox’s top five college choices as Oregon, Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Ole Miss in a tweet. Lane further stirred excitement by retweeting one of Knox’s posts with the caption “Bring the boy home,” mentioning Tennessee, where he previously coached in 2009, the year Knox was born. Knox’s throwing ability has impressed fans, and the hype surrounding him is quickly gaining momentum, with college programs showing interest.

Despite being a 2028 prospect, Knox received an offer from Sacramento State in February. And the previous year? SMU’s quarterback coach, D’Eriq King, wasted no time in offering a lucrative scholarship, setting off a chain reaction. Arkansas State quickly followed suit. This year, the momentum continues.
On January 24, Knox announced on Instagram, “After a great conversation with @coachbrowndb, I am blessed to receive an offer from Western Kentucky University #AGTG.” Georgia State also joined the mix later that month. What’s all the excitement about? It’s simple – the kid can play. Let’s wait and see if Lane Kiffin’s constant advertisement helps Knox get his desired team or not!
