Is Lane Kiffin right to call out Ryan Day again, or is he just stirring the pot?

This year is Ohio State’s chance to make or break its reputation as the top team in the Big Ten. It is also Ryan Day’s hit-or-miss opportunity to retain his job at Ohio State. So, the cost that they’re putting in this season’s preparation is quite hefty.

When Ryan Day spent $13 million in NIL money earlier in January to recruit elite players, Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin took a subtle jab by reposting the report with a spyglass emoji. And now, after that number saw an increase, he’s back at it again to deal another subtle jab to Ryan Day. And that’s because Kiffin suffered a blow from Ohio State’s NIL spending on recruitment.

Ole Miss lost one of their best players in RB Quinshon Judkins who transferred to Ohio State earlier this year. So, Lane Kiffin isn’t exactly clapping for Ryan Day’s tactics. He took another jab after ESPN reported on “How Ohio State built a $20 million, ‘national championship or bust’ roster.” Taking to his X account, Lane Kiffin reposted this piece of news on August 27 as Ryan Day desperately fills every gap in the roster in an attempt to win.

As far as Ohio State’s battle with Michigan goes, they’re in a better position this season with Michigan suffering from the sign-stealing scandal that happened last season. The Wolverines received the Notice of Allegations just before their season kickoff with their new HC Sherrone Moore in high probability of facing a suspension. This is a big reason to cause turmoil in the team which could lead to divided attention and focus.

Have an interesting take?

Taking Michigan’s plight to their benefit, Ohio State is prepared to make an epic comeback because a national championship could be the only way for Ryan Day to see another season with the Buckeyes. Making use of the $20 million NIL money, Day was able to revamp the Buckeyes roster with valuable weapons in the likes of Judkins, safety Caleb Downs, and WR Jeremiah Smith, among others. Speaking of his offseason haul, Day declared, “We’ll find out what this foundation looks like as we get into the season and get some of those storms that are coming our way. They’re coming. We’ve got to be ready.” Everyone is watching if this big money move is going to change the destiny of Ryan Day and Ohio State.
