Heading into his sixth year at Oxford, Ole Miss’s HC Lane Kiffin is no longer worthy of the tag of a nomadic head coach. A surprising twist for many. He never had more than a maximum of three years at any one place, including his stint as offensive coordinator and head coach across schools like USC, Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida Atlantic. The Rebels got him hooked, and how? Coach Kiffin’s life has always been beyond a dry professional pursuit but also infused with a deep devotion to his family.
Lane shares three beautiful children: son Knox, daughter Parsley, and Landry with his ex-wife Layla. Kiffin has a lot to be proud of when it comes to his kids. Landry, the firstborn and the most pampered, has been turning heads on the internet with her Pilates studio. Parsley, the younger one, has been committed to volleyball since her adolescence. The brother of these two, Knox Kiffin, is on his way to join the class of 2028 as a talented QB prospect. While Presley is at USC pursuing her volleyball dreams, the other two have their feet rooted in Oxford. Landry is in her sophomore year, pursuing graduation. Knox, 16, recently moved to the city to attend high school and prepare for his junior season.
That’s not it. The kids have played a big role in uniting the family after nine long years. Their mother, Layla Kiffin, has also moved in with her son Knox in Oxford, Mississippi. The coach phenom met the media during a jubilant fan meet and greet at the school. Lane Kiffin, 50, couldn’t keep a straight, stoic face while dishing out an emotional shout-out to his family.

“This has been a big change for me coming here,” Kiffin said. “Now two kids — one moving here, one already moved here. One in high school, one in college. I got to see Oxford through a different lens because I was initially here just as the head coach. Then, I got to see it as a parent. I got to see the value of the people here and how they would treat people in the community. That really helped me change a lot, too. I would say I always kind of moved fast. Lived in L.A., lived in South Florida. Come here; it’s a lot slower, and that was really good for me. It’s been an awesome time.”

Having strong ties as both a parent and a coach enhances your attentiveness to the intricacies of the school’s growth. Kiffin has made significant progress as a coach, elevating the program to an unparalleled height. Last season, they capped off with a 10-win streak for the third time in four years. On the recruitment front, Kiffin carved out his excellence on the graph as well. In the last three years, they stood out among the top six elite schools by signing the top 15 high school recruits and the top 25 transfer recruits. Next year, there will be a significant hiccup in the roster. After all, they have lost over 70 percent of their starting 22 players, including the QB1, Jaxson Dart. But that doesn’t stop the wheel.
The coach sounds incredibly hopeful while addressing the program’s future, asking fans to appreciate and value the growth and keep rooting for more. But two years ago, if Landry hadn’t pulled off a bold move, it would have been a different story.

It was a time when Landry moved to Oxford from Los Angeles prior to her senior year, only to be there with her father. For the entire 2022 and 2023 seasons, Kiffin had openly flirted with the Auburn head coach job offer.
But just when Kiffin was about to make a call for a bigger paycheck or some other amenities, maybe his daughter came up with an emotional prompt. “You left me one time for another job when you went to Alabama, and now I’m here with you, and you’re going to do it again?” she asked her father. The heartfelt plea made a lot of sense to Coach Kiffin and forced him to give it a second thought.
