The latest college football playoff ranking has rubbed a lot of teams wrong. We are already engulfed in the Alabama vs Miami debate that called for committee chairperson Warde Manuel’s justification based on the strength of the schedule and body of work. Before the chaos settled, we got another voice speaking against the alleged injustice. Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin is taking to social media to release his frustration after the Rebels received a No. 13 in the CFP list. Kiffin has already made a spot-on prediction on Alabama, a massive product of the brand bias, making it top of all the three losses teams in the ranking even before it came out. But currently, he’s more concerned about his team’s reprisal chance on the season.

Warde Manuel made it clear that the rankings remain unchanged for the team with no SEC Championship shot this week. So, be it Alabama, South Carolina, or Ole Miss, they no longer can improve their ranking. The idea quite understandably didn’t sit well with Kiffin, who desperately looked for a chance to make their season a bit better in the final stretch. Getting zero edge from the committee, the veteran coach questioned the legitimacy of the whole system, including the SEC Championship weekend. NFL great Roman Harper muzzled him right there. ”The only reason Lane Kiffin said that is because he couldn’t get into the SEC Championship Game, and all the other coaches are sitting and complaining about it too.’

Harper agreed that the new 12-team format mellowed down to the SEC championship supremacy a little, but it’s still relevant. So, he doesn’t see a point in entertaining coaches who don’t cater to their hungry mentality and keep themselves busy throwing shades at something they can’t control. He puts the SMU coach, Rhett Lashlee, on notice as well. He caused a commotion online, sending a warning to the committee that losing an ACC championship game can’t disqualify them from the playoff bracket.

Harper had a strong and clear reply to the rant. ‘‘Go out there and beat them. You got to earn your right on the field.” The only team he seems to have some feelings for is, ironically, an SEC program. ”South Carolina is the only one that I actually listened to because they didn’t get the chance and they are the team that’s been winning. They didn’t get the chance to go out and prove it’s a little bit unfortunate ” said the NFL legend.

However, the Gamecocks coach didn’t get harsh on the committee but definitely felt heartbroken at the major snub. His mellow reaction somewhat proved the fate he faced in the season.

Shane Beamer doesn’t understand the math behind the latest CFP ranking

What’s your perspective on:

Is the CFP committee biased towards big names like Alabama, or is it all about performance?

Have an interesting take?

The Gamecocks sit at No. 14, out of the top 12 brackets at the latest ranking chart. Head coach Shane Beamer barely knows how to react to it. ‘Disappointed’, and ‘shocked’ would be some words to describe his mental space, but that wouldn’t suffice the pain he is undergoing. Wednesday afternoon, the prolific head coach faced the national media and articulated his emotions to some extent.

Like many other coaches and veterans in the realm, Beamer questioned on what basis the committee decided the final top 12. He mentioned he was told that they start with a blank state each week. If that were the case, it is hard to believe that South Carolina didn’t get into the thick of the 12.

With Manuel issuing a final word on how teams with no SEC championship shot can’t improve their ranks, it’s a punch in the gut for the Gamecocks, who didn’t really get to explore what they could have done.

But the season might end, and football doesn’t. They will certainly look to answer the disrespect in the upcoming season.
