Jaxson Dart had a dreamy run slinging it for the Ole Miss Rebels, and get this: the Dart legacy might just continue in Oxford. Lane Kiffin’s already throwing another dart on the Rebels board! Kiffin’s reputation as a master recruiter, a maverick play-caller, and much more is well-known in the SEC. And now, you could very well say that ‘Project Travis Hunter’ could be started early with this dynamic 2027 two-way player.
With the first Power Four offer on the table for the athlete. On Monday, Kiffin’s Ole Miss program extended a scholarship offer to Diesel Dart, a class of 2027 prospect and the younger brother of record-breaker QB Jaxson Dart. Diesel, a dynamic two-way player who has been making waves as a registered WR and DB at Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon High School, caught the attention of assistant coach Charlie Weis Jr. before earning his scholarship, as he announced on his social media.
Also, on On3’s post, fans had an interesting take on the Rebels head coach. Although unranked at the moment, Diesel’s tape shows flashes of brilliance that Coach Lane Kiffin and his staff must like. The Rebels became the second FBS program to offer Diesel a spot, following San Diego State.

If you think this is just a sentimental gesture, think again. Lane Kiffin doesn’t hand out scholarships like party favors. He runs a program that has produced a conveyor belt of NFL-caliber wide receivers, including stars like Elijah Moore and D.K. Metcalf. The Rebels’ offense is built to thrive with versatile, athletic playmakers, and Diesel fits the mold. Standing at an imposing 6-foot-2 as a sophomore, he already has the frame and athleticism to develop into a legitimate SEC contributor. Add in the bloodlines—his older brother piloted the Rebels to back-to-back 10-win seasons in 2023 and 2024.
The timing of the offer is significant as well. Jaxson Dart is poised to leave a lasting legacy in Oxford, following his decision to play in the Gator Bowl rather than sit out to prepare for the NFL Draft. Called it an “honor” to have worn a Rebels jersey for the last three years. Elder Dart became one of just four players in SEC history with 12,000 total career yards. And broke the single-season Ole Miss passing and total offense records, as well as his own school records for single-bowl passing yards and total offense.
He also thinks that despite his departure this offseason, there are bright days ahead in Oxford. For Diesel, the offer isn’t just a chance to follow in his brother’s footsteps; it’s an opportunity to forge his own identity while adding to the Rebels’ growing legacy.
Jaxson Dart leaves the Rebels ship with ‘Diesel’
Even after his departure, Jaxson Dart is optimistic about the future in Oxford. And for Diesel Dart, the younger brother of Ole Miss’ former star quarterback, his opportunity isn’t just about stepping into big shoes—it’s about making his own mark while honoring a legacy.

“I think we definitely left Ole Miss in a better place than when we came in,” #2 shared after the Rebels’ bowl win over Duke. “Playing football at Ole Miss has been like a dream. The growth, the environment, the culture—it’s all about bringing people together.”
Dart didn’t hold back when reflecting on the special vibe in Oxford. “You can go anywhere, and everybody knows your name. They support you. They have your back. That’s just different. Where I’m from, I didn’t feel that. Coming here, it’s family. The state of Mississippi is special.”

Jaxson Dart is leaving Oxford with a full heart, but he’s not just riding off into the sunset. He’s already hyping up his younger brother, Diesel. After Diesel snagged an offer from San Diego State, Jaxson hit X with a “Lil bro is really LIKE THAT!” But could we see a Dart dynasty at Ole Miss? Diesel Dart might be flying under the recruiting radar right now, unranked, but anyone watching knows that won’t last long.
