With hours remaining for the NFL draft, not much can the draft prospects do. The destinations would already be set, players ready to buy their team colors, and the GMs? They would be faced with a plethora of dilemmas and conundrums. However, amidst all the chaos and excitement, college football becomes less important. The relationships the players would have created, the touchdowns they had scored, and the inch-perfect tackles would all be background noise now. But Jaxson Dart isn’t forgetting all that.

We all know the season Jaxson Dart had last season with Ole Miss. The quarterback surpassed all expectations and delivered an exceptional performance. He notched up 4,279 yards in a performance that took Ole Miss to 10-3. But the feat wouldn’t have been possible without the relationship that Dart had built over the years with his head coach, Lane Kiffin. Kiffin, who already has a keen sense of humor, doesn’t just treat Jaxson Dart as his QB1, but the relationship is much deeper than that.

The relationship between the head coach and Dart was so strong that he once proclaimed, “The quarterback, you know, he’s just—he’s awesome. There’s a way you want your son to be, that’s what you want to have.” And Dart, too, time and again, has reciprocated the love Coach Kiffin has for him in many ways. His on-field performances were just a glimmer of the relationship they have, and he even considers Kiffin his “best friend.” The friends are now at it again.

In a recent interview with Kay Adams, the Ole Miss QB was asked about Coach Kiffin. The quarterback was full of praise and admiration for his head coach. “We just had like a special connection… He (Lane Kiffin) actually texted me like yesterday, and he was like, I miss you. I’m like, All right, chill out.” The conversation posted on Adams’ X account caught the attention of Kiffin, and he gave us some serious ‘bromance’ goals. “Chill, bro, you text me, I miss you first!!!

Kiffin, fondly known as the ‘QB whisperer,’ hasn’t gotten the tag casually. The man knows his business, which not only carries over to the field but even seeps into players’ personal lives for good. The head coach doesn’t just bring his genius to his offensive schemes but builds serious lifelong relationships with his boys. This relationship reciprocates a hundredfold on the field, where players do not only perform for themselves but also for Kiffin, whom they always consider their ‘bro.’ We saw this after the Egg Bowl when Dart embraced Kiffin warmly following their win, and we will continue to see it at Ole Miss with new QBs as well.

Jaxson Dart gets a huge update on his NFL career

Well, if there’s one thing that is certain before the draft, it’s the uncertainty the whole process brings. Just a month ago, Jaxson Dart was no more than a second- or third-round pick and wasn’t much in the QB discussions. There were just Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders in the draft class, the QB1 and QB2. But Dart started climbing up after some time and was touted as a late first-round pick. Dart was the QB2 a week later, even replacing Sanders in many mock drafts. Now, a major franchise has likely clarified its position.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Jaxson Dart's bromance with Lane Kiffin translate into NFL success, or is it just hype?

Have an interesting take?

In a recent IG story posted by Giants’ GM Joe Schoen’s son, Carson Schoen, he is seen watching the highlights of Jaxson Dart’s tapes. After that, the 17-year-old posted the story but quickly made his Instagram account private. Dov Kleiman, an NFL insider, shared the news on his X account. “Giants GM Joe Schoen’s son posted a Jaxson Dart highlight reel on IG and then set his account to private…The Giants have the No. 3 pick in the draft. Dart would THRIVE in New York under Daboll.”

With now less than 12 hours until the NFL draft, the development is huge, even if it came through Joe Schoen’s son. The Giants are surely in need of a long-term quarterback, but they may not draft Dart in the first round since they have already signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. As for the first-round pick, Abdul Carter is widely touted as the guy the Giants would draft since their QB room in the short term seems sorted.
