Lane Kiffin's magic touch: Is he the best recruiter in college football right now?

Coach Lane Kiffin just bagged his first RB commit of the 2025 class! That too amidst fierce competition from some of the top schools. But surely, it’s because of Ole Miss’ winning attitude and Kiffin’s ability to understand and seamlessly blend with his players. Yeah, just hours before, their locker meeting turned into a basketball play court!

Contrary to what other coaches would normally do, Lane Kiffin isn’t adding football pressure on his guys ahead of the 2024 season kickoff. Instead, he’s taking on a more relaxed attitude by hustling his players to let off some stress by shooting the hoops. Isn’t he an ideal coach for college football players whose energies are at their peaks? No wonder this valuable player wanted to get a taste of the Ole Miss-Kiffin atmosphere!

Lane Kiffin found a real deal in 4-star RB Shekai Mills-Knight, who is ranked as the No. 17 RB and the No. 6 player in Tennessee. As reported by Hayes Fawcett of On3, “The 6’2 220 RB from Chattanooga, TN chose the Rebels over Tennessee, Miami, Auburn, & Alabama.” He also added Mills-Knight’s words, which read, “If you want to win a Natty & get developed, come to the Sip. Hotty Toddy!

Mills-Knight made this announcement on IG Live becoming the first RB to commit after 5-star Akylin Dear decommitted in June. He is now the 15th player of the class of 2025 to commit to Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss. In addition to his final choices, he also reportedly received offers from schools like Michigan, Florida, Oregon, Ohio State, and Mississippi State. But Lane Kiffin’s magic seems to have lured this valuable player to Ole Miss. After all, they’re predicted to triumph over Alabama as the SEC title winners.

If Ole Miss wants to win that conference title, their O-line is what they need to focus on. Lane Kiffin is already working on it by revamping the roster with two offensive tackles – 3-star 6’8 315 Kenneth Boston and 3-star 6’5 305 Taren Hedrick, both of whom are in the 2025 class. Even so, the 2024 season still looks promising for Ole Miss.

Have an interesting take?

As per Andy Staples’ prediction, Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss could pose a threat to Kalen DeBoer and Alabama in the SEC. How? As Staples said, “The Rebels are plus 650 to win the SEC that’s the third-best odds. Georgia’s plus 185, Texas is plus 310 at FanDuel. Alabama is plus 950 like Ole Miss has better odds to win the SEC than Alabama.” Ole Miss currently stands at No. 9 in the SEC and No. 15 in the nation. Way to go! This season’s going to make or break their supporters’ hopes in Kiffin!
