Is Kirby Smart a genius for pulling off that 13-12 win, or did he just get lucky?

“You’ve got to find ways to win these, and that’s what we did; we found a way to win.” Kirby Smart is clear with his vision to win and dominate no matter what. The Georgia Bulldogs have won back-to-back three games this season. The No. 1 football team hasn’t lost a regular-season game since 2020. Their victory over Kentucky was their 43rd consecutive win; although they managed to continue their streak, it was by far their closest call yet.

College football has seen many close fights and experienced nail-biting games. The Bulldogs had to push themselves for a 13-12 victory. Kirby Smart, who has been training Bulldogs for more than eight years, is very well aware of their game plans and strategies. Being in the business for so long, he knows how important winning is. However, after the game, Smart and his team were all over the media. J.D. PicKell, who has been live games for On3 video, shared his opinion on the head coach’s savvy tactics. He stated, “The fact that they were able to win that game in an ugly way. Kirby Smart, you could hear it in his voice post-game, like he’s like, ‘Okay, I got their attention now.’ If I didn’t have their undivided attention, if we were getting complacent, they’re not anymore because they got a bye now before Alabama.”

Despite the Bulldogs winning against Kentucky, it’s clear that Smart and his team view the close call as a wake-up call. In fact, the win and Kirby Smart’s strategies are considered smelling salt for quarterback Carson Beck and his teammates. PicKell added, “You never apologize for a win. But again, having this ammunition for Kirby Smart is the best thing that could have happened for Georgia and the worst thing for college football. Because if you were going to get complacent, Georgia later in the year looks a lot less likely now after that game at Kentucky.”

This narrow victory might boost Georgia’s motivation for the coming matchup with Alabama. Barely getting the win has given Kirby Smart, Beck, and others the perfect reason not to take any game lightly, especially their next game, as Crimson Tide is also consistently winning and is at 3-0.

What went wrong for the Georgia Bulldogs?

It was a rare scenario where Bulldog lines consistently overpowered, but that’s exactly what happened in Kentucky. Kirby Smart’s offensive and defensive lines faced some major challenges throughout the game. Although they scored a few points, it was a neck-to-neck competition. The Bulldogs struggled mainly because of their line play.

Many football experts say the Bulldogs played ugly because of unnecessary penalties and fumbles. The Georgia Bulldogs played far below their standard. This is going to upset their fans and will be considered their worst game ever. What makes their situation worse is injuries. Already, the Bulldogs have a long injury list. Guard Tate Ratledge has hurt his lower leg. It looks like their key player, Carson Beck, has injured his left arm. Although the status of these two players is still uncertain. Kirby Smart and his team have a lot to work on as they are going to face the toughest competitors next weekend.
