Is Kirby Smart's behavior a sign of a deeper culture problem within the Georgia Bulldogs?

Although the Georgia Bulldogs won Saturday’s game against Mississippi State, no one is talking about their 41-31 sparkling win. Instead, the game is becoming the topic of discussion for all the other reasons. Carson Beck threw for 459 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. But no one is interested in what Beck did. Rather, they are questioning what head coach Kirby Smart did right at Sanford Stadium. Did he really shove the MSU player?

A clip is taking rounds on the internet from Saturday’s game. At first, it can be seen that some sort of argument is happening on the field. To that, Kirby Smart appeared from nowhere and shoved Mississippi quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr. in the fourth quarter. However, Smart is denying that and saying that he was yelling at someone on Georgia’s sideline and Buren just came at the wrong time in the wrong place.

Smart further said he didn’t even remember touching this guy. “I think I was going after Schumann. I was trying to get Schumann’s attention. We were trying to change personnel. I think it’s the play they came over to our sideline and trying to get Schumann’s attention. but no, I don’t really remember it,” Smart said.

On the other hand, when they asked Buren and MSU head coach Jeff Lebby, they also denied the same. Buren said, “I’m not really sure what that was, but I was just trying to play my game. I didn’t really see it for real.

Later, his Head Coach refrained from commenting anything on this matter. He even said that he didn’t see anything. But not the case with college football fans, as they are quite angry after watching Smart lose his calm.

Kirby Smart called out by fans for his on-field antics

Have an interesting take?

On3 Sports shared a clip of this incident from their official ‘X’ handle, and fans are commenting crazy things in the comments.” Kirby smart shove Mississippi State QB Michael Van Buren while arguing with official.” They wrote in the caption for the clip. To that one fan reacted by writing, “No wonder all their players are getting arrested.” He might be hinting at the news that came out a few days ago after Georgia’s Colbie Young was arrested by the Athens-Clarke County police and charged with assault on an unborn child and battery.

Well, Kirby Smart was not yet moved on from that humiliation when the HC himself got surrounded by fans attacking him. Another fan wrote, “he should be suspended.” Whoops, that’s a big thing to say, and if someone is saying that, we can figure out the rage they might be feeling right now.

Another one wrote, “Thug should be suspended for 3 games minimum.” Did he really call Smart a thug? This is insane! With that, some of the fans are even suggesting that he should be suspended throughout the entire season. Then a fan commented, “Regardless if he realized who he pushed, the fact remains that he pushed a player on the other team. This has to result in disciplinary actions.. PERIOD!” That actually makes sense because, knowingly or unknowingly, Kirby Smart shoved that guy, and this kinda behavior coming from an HC can’t be tolerated. Of course, Smart will claim his innocence in the matter, but how absent-minded you have to be to not know that you’re shoving an opponent at the end of a play.

At last, one angry fan went a step ahead and said, “CULTURE. PROBLEM.” Moving forward, we don’t know how much truth these accusations hold, but it can be revealed in the upcoming days. It doesn’t help the matter that the Bulldogs have a discipline problem in its ranks.
