Is Quinn Ewers truly the next big thing, or is Carson Beck the real quarterback to watch?

Here comes one of the most anticipated games ever in the regular college football season! Texas vs Georgia. The battle of the SEC powerhouses! Standing at No. 5 on the AP Poll, Georgia has Carson Beck, but can he and the Bulldogs survive the pressure that Steve Sarkisian’s Longhorns could deliver?

Sports analyst Cole Cubelic revealed the strengths of Steve Sarkisian in a new YouTube episode on Josh Pate’s College Football Show on October 19. He said, “One thing that Sark does extremely well is he gets you looking one way and he hits you the other way.” The former CFB player backed his statement with how Texas had been dominating their run game and also added, “Where he’s masterful is that bringing people close to football, so bringing people in the tackle box essentially, and then utilizing that person quickly through the air in the other direction.”

Throwing in examples of this play, Cubelic spoke on WR Matthew Golden and TE Gunnar Helm’s explosive play in their final game touchdown for a dominant victory over the Sooners. Texas is currently No. 7 in offense in both total yards and points per game at 495.7 and 43.2, respectively. They also lead the running game with 189 yards per game. On defense, they rank No. 1 in both allowing just 229.7 yards and 6.3 points per game.

Georgia, on the other hand, isn’t faring as well as Texas. That one fateful 41-34 loss to Alabama in Week 5 stained Kirby Smart and the Dawgs’ reputation. But since that fall from grace, they’ve been inching their way up, coming off a victory against Mississippi State in Week 7. Right now, they’re ahead of the Longhorns in passing with 318 yards per game compared to 306.7. Is the game coming down to quarterback play?

Quinn Ewers favored over Carson Beck?

As far as QB talks go, Carson Beck has been dominant in his six games this season. He completed 142-of-209 passes for 1,818 yards and 15 touchdowns. Still, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit chose Quinn Ewers as a favorite for next year’s draft’s overall No. 1 pick. The Longhorns QB completed 78-of-108 passes for 890 yards and nine touchdowns in four games played.

Texas has proved they have elite talents on the line such as when backup QB Arch Manning filled in for Quinn Ewers’ during his injury. He led his team to three back-to-back wins with a 142-23 record! But Ewers made a grand comeback in Week 7 with a stunning 34-3 victory over Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry game. It’s a no-brainer he’ll be starting tomorrow against their crucial SEC opponent. Can he keep up the momentum when he meets the projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft? But interestingly, the running backs seem to hold more spotlight in the upcoming game
