What’s more interesting than college football playoffs? The drama! The chaos, the predictions, and the never-ending debates. Now that the first college football playoff rankings of the 12-team era are finally here, analysts and fans are eager to learn experts’ take on it. As predicted, teams like Oregon, Ohio State, and the Miami Hurricanes are on top after the rankings were released on Tuesday night. Joel Klatt is yet again here with his unique way of seeing things and away from the crowd’s opinions.

On The Herd with Colin Cowherd’s latest episode aired on November 8, 2024, Joel Klatt joined Colin for his weekly appearance to share views on everything related to college football. Klatt revealed his top 10 teams after watching all these teams fight for almost ten weeks. He has placed Oregon at the top, followed by Ohio State at No. 2, followed by Georgia, Texas, Miami, Indiana, Tennessee, Penn State, and Alabama, and on the tenth rank, he placed BYU.

However, if you recall the first edition of college football playoff rankings, the officials have placed Georgia above Ohio State. Klatt does not agree with most of the experts, as he favors Ohio State over Georgia. He supported his rankings by arguing, “The first half of Georgia’s game against Alabama. They were terrible, terrible. You know, Beck throws a bad interception to lose the game. And offensively, Georgia hasn’t shown the ability to own anybody. I mean, call them legitimately. Beck has thrown 11 interceptions in his last four or five football games. That’s that’s far too many.”

Joel Klatt really holds a unique perspective than the current buzz. While everyone is sensing some kind of favoritism in placing Ohio State above Georgia, the college football analyst has given enough reasons why Georgia is sitting behind Ohio State. After this, Klatt gave another reason why he ranked Georgia behind Ohio State.

If you go back to the Texas Game, here’s what actually happened. Georgia’s offense gained less than 300 yards, and their defense gave them a short field four different times during that game. They built a 23-nothing lead. That’s what happened in that game. So I believe that the narrative surrounding how Georgia beat Texas on the road in Austin because of the score is not actually lined up with the way that the game actually played out.”

But that’s about Georgia. Coming to Ohio State, at the start of the show, Cowherd argued that the Buckeyes are among the teams that he has liked less, the more he has watched them. Klatt disagreed with Colin, saying that Ryan Day’s squad is fixing issues at the right time. For instance, at the end of their game against Penn State, the Buckeyes’ offense had to start their drive at their 1-yard line, and they ended the game without losing the possession. That speaks for the improvement in the performance of their O-line, something that was lacking earlier in the season. Another reason is QB Will Howard, who didn’t have a great outing against the Nittany Lions but still managed to make some plays.

With all that, Klatt remained strong on his comments, as he believes Georgia no way holds a chance this season to be ahead of Ohio State. However, while discussing Georgia’s upcoming game, Joel Klatt supported them against Ole Miss.

While predicting the winner of this game, Joel Klatt said, “What generally happens in big games for Georgia? They show up. Their floor is so much higher than Ole Miss’s floor, and I just can’t trust Ole Miss to play that well for two straight weeks.” However, further, Klatt said, “You’re not wrong if you say if Beck turns it over and Ole Miss plays well offensively, then Ole Miss has a shot.”

Did we just hear a diplomatic answer from an analyst who speaks the bitter truth? Well, moving further, he straight-forwardly supported Georgia for this game over Ole Miss. If that’s the case and Georgia wins this game, they truly will secure a playoff spot.
