Georgia Bulldogs and Kirby Smart are bolstering their 2026 roster, swooping in several top-tier recruits, including five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson, dual-threat QB Legend Bey, and Kaiden Prothro. They are currently at five commits so far! Well, with strong pursuing ability, the number can go up any day, but even before that, one of their existing commits on the list, Seven Cloud, makes a huge decision.
Oh, and how could you not take notice of the 320-lb giant defensive lineman who announced his verbal commitment to the Bulldogs back in December? During his second season at the JUCO level, Cloud tallied 48 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one pass deflection, and three blocked kicks. He mounted a season-high 10 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one blocked kick in a 21-14 loss to Snow College on September 28.
He is not a newbie in Athens, though. Cloud’s relationship with Georgia traces back to high school when he developed a great rapport with Georgia defensive line coach Tray Scott. “His coach ethic. I like how he coaches. He’s more hands-on with his players. He lets his players do their thing,” Cloud told Dawgs247 earlier this fall. “It felt great. I was glad to be back, really.” Georgia came back in Cloud’s way in April 2023 after he arrived at Butler.

The Juco DL said Scott was genuinely glad to see him back and said he still wants him at Athens. However, with some complications with his senior year eligibility, Georgia’s interest came to a halt there. A year down, and the kid is back where his roots are again, and this time with a quote-unquote commitment. Not only just that, but the latest intel says more. He gives his long-standing Georgia relationship a further boost.

As per insider Jeff Sentell, Cloud will be back in Athens for spring practice on March 15. Can he suit up in the upcoming season, by any chance? Well, that sounds a little too far-fetched, but under the Bulldogs’ renowned coaching room, Cloud will get there sooner or later. However, irrespective of Kirby Smart’s chance with Cloud until the end of his recruitment stretch, He has to deal with a constant headache called Mike Bobo.

Georgia continues to stick with the Mike Bobo woes for another year
‘If anything goes wrong, blame it on Mike Bobo’ isn’t a correct approach to roll with. But you can’t deny the issues with the third-year offensive coordinator during that shattering Sugar Bowl loss against Notre Dame. Should Bobo head to another season, or should he be replaced? The million-dollar question the Dawgs have to resolve as early as they can. Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald reported on Thursday that offensive coordinator Mike Bobo signed a one-year contract extension before the 2024 season that will now keep him in the role until 2026. His current salary of $1.403 million will go up to $1.503 million on July 1, 2025. It will increase to $1.603 million on July 1, 2026.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Seven Cloud's return to Georgia Bulldogs be the game-changer they need for 2026?
Have an interesting take?
But what does that mean? A safety net of his Georgia job wrapped in a paper? Well, no. If Georgia wants, they can anytime overturn the contract or extend it further. It’s all about how long Smart shows patience with his OC in the long run. On the Locked-on Bulldogs podcast, analyst Daniel Monroe stated, “If Georgia wants to fire Mike Bobo after this season, they will fire Mike Bobo after this season…. They don’t care; it’s one year; they’ll just buy it out. If Georgia wanted to keep Mike Bobo for 10 more years, they would still just re-up his contract a year at a time.”

In 2024, the Dawgs averaged nearly 10 points less per game than in 2023. However, Bobo can flip the script this time, ensuring the smooth execution of a new offense without Carson Beck (who transferred to Miami) at the helm and with Gunner Stockton instead in charge, with a talented receivers transfer group and the constant support from HC Kirby Smart. If he can’t make the best out of it, anything can be on the line!
