Kirby Smart continues beating the drums of Carson Beck and it no longer seems over-hyping at all. If there is a chart to shout out the most called-out players of the season, Beck would undoubtedly sit atop. But that is too slim of a perspective to judge the worth of a world-class athlete. Beck has had his moments that made him an internet clown, but he turned the page as well as a marquee professional. The Jacksonville native started to deliver at the most important point in time. The redemption journey he started against Tennessee continued through an overwhelming win game against U-Mass last week. Bad deal for the naysayers! Beck’s comeback wasn’t a fluke. But what did suddenly go right for the 22-year-old? Coach Kirby Smart didn’t see any reason to be swept off the feet.

Smart has always been the loudest cheerleader for Beck. No matter how many shades you throw at him, he’s firm in his take, like anything. Even after Beck has had a record turnover during the Dawgs’ two whimpering losses against Ole Miss and Alabama, Smart barely addressed the issue. When a frenzied media asked him about changing the starting quarterback for the upcoming games, his simple response was an absolute ‘no’. He rather spotlighted Beck’s decision-making ability at a tough juncture. Now, the entire nation has shifted its perspective. Just a couple of games and they started to see what Smart has always seen in the young Georgia QB.

When the coach was asked what’s new in Beck during an interview with UGAsports, he went a little underwhelming on Beck as he found some narrow escape. Smart noted, “I haven’t really seen anything different. I mean, you guys read into the stats. You just look at the stats and say, ‘Oh, clean game’. There’s probably some throws there that could have been picked, but there’s also plays in the other games that shouldn’t have been picked.”

He’s an eagle-eyed in spotting the nitty gritty of the sports for years and he doesn’t judge a player based on his stats. He read between the lines and kept his verdict on the table.

”So, I look at decision-making and process. [Carson Beck] processes information really well and he executes the offense really well, ” the 48-year-old continued batting for his favorite boy, irrespective of the media volatility.

Is Carson Beck the next big NFL star, or just another overhyped college quarterback?

Smart is a visionary in his craft. No one can deny that. But then blaming it on the media entirely would be wrong as well. Throwing one interception in three weeks versus 11 in five games is quite a jump and somewhat marks a significant improvement in a QB’s performance quality whatsoever. Regardless of the debate, Beck is raising his NFL stocks sharp.

Carson Beck is on the verge of stealing a lucrative NFL spot

The Georgia sensation became functional when the team needed him the most. After a quintessential win against UMass, Smart doesn’t have to be delusional to expect an SEC Championship game and a home College Football Playoff game. If Beck continues to deliver alongside a fiery offensive line providing the defense holding on to its grace, hitting the bullseye is just a matter of time for Smart and his squad. But it’s not just about the collective glory. Beck, on the flip side, is solidifying his NFL future.

A career-high 25 of 40 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns during Georgia’s 31-17 win against Tennessee was enough to blur the memory of the painful interceptions count of the previous games. Against UMass, Beck didn’t really need to take the lead as the offense already put them ahead, but it didn’t stop the QB phenom from putting on his best. He finished with 20-for-31 passing with 297 yards through the air and four touchdowns and, of course, with very few misses.

And guess what? He suddenly lands in the LA Rams’ favorite list for the potential 2025 pick. ESPN’s recent breakdown suggested that the Rams who struggled through this season missed on the top-ranked QB a while back. But wait, they can still have Beck. They need a replacement for Matthew Stafford who’s running out of age, and Beck ‘‘becomes the option to replace Matthew Stafford there in LA at 18.”

While it remains to be seen how Smart affords the jump of Carson Beck from Georgia Bulldogs to the NFL thick, the future holds big promise for the No. 15 dawg.
