Despite having an inconsistent season this fall, Kansas QB Jalon Daniels is still a hot NFL prospect. Not only this, despite being designated as a red-shirt junior, but he intends to play for Kansas on Senior Day, which probably implies that his time with the Jayhawks is coming to an end. Although a player’s participation in Senior Day does not always indicate that they are leaving the program, it is typically the final home honor for the veteran group of players. But hold on. See what transpired? Prior to their eagerly awaited matchup on Saturday, Buffs coach and former NFL veteran Warren Sapp sent Jalon Daniels a severe warning.
Jayhawks recently overcame previously unbeaten BYU 17–13, their most noteworthy victory of the season. Now, they will face Buffs. According to ESPN BET, the Buffs are a 3-point road favorite for the game. However, Daniels is a dual threat, and the Buffs defense will have to slow him down. But Warren Sapp seems unconcerned about Colorado’s capacity to impede Daniels’ progress, stating, “Oh, we got ourselves a little jitterbug back there. We are going to lay heavy — we going to lay a heavy, young man. So you might want to pitch it to your running back because he’s a little more equipped to take this pounding. But if you want some, it’s your choice.” After Sapp insulted the quarterback, a Kansas journalist, Michael Swain, retaliated with an X post that read, ” This aged really, really well. Jalon Daniels had 72 yards rushing tonight, which is almost twice as much as Colorado’s entire team (42).”

It just shows how good Jalon is. This season, he has passed for 1,985 yards and 13 TDs. He has 338 yards and 6 TDs on 82 attempts and is the Kansas’ third-leading runner. On top of this, Daniels has handled the football significantly better since Kansas’ 38-27 defeat to TCU, as evidenced by his 8-2 touchdown to interception ratio. With 145 finishing for 1,985 yards this season, he is also getting close to the 2,000-throwing-yard milestone. Despite these statistics, the quarterback was dismantled, which is really shocking. However, according to Sapp, a quarterback’s role in a game is more crucial.
The new defensive coach explained his decision to take charge of the squad by saying, “That’s why I told the quarterback, it’s on you, baby. You make that decision. I promise you. You pick. Make a choice.” Because nobody is interested in who made it, the outcome is all that matters to anybody. That’s true. However, the coach’s warning to Jalon Daniels isn’t over yet. Ignoring Daniels’ abilities, the coach crafted the defensive plan for Colorado’s matchup against Kansas. Have a look at it.

Can Jalon Daniels prove Warren Sapp wrong and lead Kansas to a stunning victory over Colorado?

Despite not being a prolific rusher, Daniels does have some rush skills. With an average of just under 50 yards running throughout those games, he has gotten double-digit carries for the past three weeks. That is why slowing down the run is the first of Sapp’s objectives for the defense in this contest.
“Under 100 yards rushing, assault the quarterback. Take this run game and get it under control. Then let’s mount a rush. I don’t see them covering our receivers or stopping us from running the ball. We should be able to run and throw the ball like we want to. All we have to do is hold up our end on the defense,” Warren Sapp stated.
Let’s see if the Buffs can play Kansas today based on his strategy. Whether Daniels defeats them or not will be a thrilling event. Don’t miss today’s game, then.
