Is Nick Saban's dynasty crumbling, or can he still turn things around for Alabama?

When DeBoer accepted the Alabama job, many people about his potential questioned him. Some even believed that the Crimson Tide would bring down a notch without Nick Saban behind the Alabama logo. The most intriguing fact is that under Saban Alabama won six national championships and nine SEC championships. After that, Alabama went without winning a national championship on the biggest stage.

Therefore, many believe that Alabama’s dynasty will come to an end before Saban’s departure. On this note, Paul Finebaum, sports columnist, and analyst, stated, “Can you imagine Alabama not being in the first 12-team Playoff?despite having outstanding players, a good team, and other resources. Although, DeBoer has 104-12 career record with consistent winners at three stops before Alabama gave him the opportunity. Can he win a national championship in his first year? That’s the question.

As per the reporter of On3, Matt Zenitz, “Alabama and its star GM Courtney Morgan have agreed to a new three-year deal that will average about $825,000 per year.” Additionally, the leading figure of Alabama got an offer to pursue a president of the football role at USC, but because of the deal with Bama, he stayed. Before joining Alabama, Morgan worked under DeBoer and both of them played two seasons for Washington. But depending on the scenario of college football, it seems like DeBoer’s effort will not work in building the past dynasty of Alabama because the extension for Morgan totals up to $2.5 million, comes after Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans.

On August 21, 2024, On3Sports shared a picture of Saban and DeBoer on their X account with the prediction of Paul, “The Alabama ‘dynasty’ is over“. Moreover, he added, “But the dynasty is over and, quite frankly, it’s been over for a couple of years. They haven’t won a national championship since Covid.” Furthermore, he brought up the fact that Georgia has won twice and Michigan has won once since Alabama’s most recent national championship win. So, a question can arise on the chances of winning the championship in Alabama without Saban, but time can reveal the actual truth. As a result, there is room for further discussion on Finebaum’s prediction.

Is Nick Saban's dynasty crumbling, or can he still turn things around for Alabama?

Have an interesting take?

In a previous appearance on Get Up, Finebaum said “I don’t think this team is good enough. Nick Saban himself told you a couple of weeks ago one of their deficiencies is in the defensive secondary.Along with that, he mentioned, “So I think they’re challenged, I think the schedule is overwhelming, I think they could make the playoffs, but they are not going to win the national championship without Nick Saban.

Therefore, it reflects that many believe in the fact that DeBoer is very good as a coach, but maybe this year is not for him. Let’s wait and watch what brings the 2024 national championship begin on August 31st against Western Kentucky.
