Enough about Bama’s slip-ups under Kalen DeBoer. Those four powerful punches spoke volumes, and what about the constant comparisons to Saban? We’ve heard every single one. However, let’s change the subject—Alabama’s comeback is underway, and DeBoer is recruiting top-tier players. Crazy, right? The same team that watched players bolt for the portal is now reeling them in. And the game-changer? His old buddy, Ryan Grubb.

Well, it’s evident that Alabama’s defense took a blow against Michigan, allowing 260 yards on 4.1 YPP. However, Kalen DeBoer is not dwelling on it but focusing on fixing the issues. His first move is to bring back his old right-hand man, Ryan Grubb. This reunion is not just about play-calling but also about establishing a strong foundation. And guess what? Highly talented players like WR Tristen Keys and track star Brandon Arrington are taking notice. Bama’s reloading, not rebuilding.

Talking about Brandon Arrington’s visit to the university, insiders reveal in On3 recruits about his inclination towards the staff, saying, “He previously listed Texas A&M as his leader but has taken several West Coast visits as well. After this weekend, Alabama made a big move in his recruitment. He arrived on Friday and stayed through Sunday, having a great visit.” Well, it looks like Ryan Grubb is already shaking up the recruitment stakes for Kalen DeBoer.

Moreover, who wouldn’t want a player like Brandon who excels not only in football but also dominates the track? He sprints through the 100m in 10.33 and the 200m in 20.55, making him a versatile asset. He gains yards as a receiver, shuts downplays as a corner, and even flips the field as a returner. While Oregon and Texas A&M are trying hard for him, Alabama has turned up the heat and is making a serious effort to close the gap.

The same goes for wide receiver Tristen Keys, as the insider reveals his major interest in learning more about the coaching staff, saying, “So, you kind of wanted to see what he thought about the campus and the facilities. He already had a great relationship with the coaching staff, including Jamarcus Shepard. This visit was more about being around the players on the team, the support staff, and getting a chance to meet the medical, training, strength, and conditioning staff.” But is it enough to snatch him from Ole Miss?

Looks like it won’t be an easy ride as Ole Miss is working to secure a spot in Tristen Keys’ Top 12 after his impressive performance of 1,275 yards and 14 touchdowns. Plus, even Tristen is quite impressed with their offense, as he said, “Ole Miss—great school, great offense.” But let’s just sleep on that because Kalen DeBoer’s master stroke can change things really fast.

Kalen DeBoer and Ryan Grubb duo are back in action!

With Ryan Grubb’s entry into the team, people might think Kalen DeBoer’s going to let go of Nick Sheridan, but that guy is no less in action than Grubb. His brief tenure as Alabama’s offensive coordinator was nothing short of productive. Under his leadership, the Tide posted 422.8 yards per game, securing a solid 7th place nationally. No wonder DeBoer is not letting go of him.

Moreover, what stood out, though, was his ability to crank out the fourth-best rushing attack in the SEC, with 182.7 yards per game. With him calling plays, Alabama’s offense averaged 35.5 points a game—good for third in the SEC. Despite some progress, major offensive weaknesses created significant issues, and the team requires better coaching. Plus, what’s more interesting is Nick worked with Grubb at Huskies in 2022 and 2023. Which makes this addition even more interesting.

Well, considering this, DeBoer’s program is excited to welcome Ryan Grubb into the mix. In 2025, Grubb will take over the reins, following in the footsteps of Tommy Rees and Bill O’Brien. The question on everyone’s mind is whether Grubb will be the secret ingredient that propels Alabama back into the conversation as an elite offensive team. After all, he and DeBoer were a dynamic duo at Washington.

Prior to Grubb’s time in the NFL, Washington’s offense was almost unstoppable, ranking 12th in the nation for yards per game. The previous year, they ranked second. However, Grubb’s transition to the NFL showcased his magic once again with the Seattle Seahawks, who finished 14th in offensive yards per game. Still, something was missing—Grubb hadn’t yet reached his peak. Now, back in college, reunited with DeBoer, Grubb might just be the spark Alabama’s offense needs to reclaim its dominance.
