Kalen DeBoer isn’t caught up in playoff debates — he’s locked in on one goal. That is getting Alabama back to the top. And his biggest challenge? Keeping a roster engaged when none of them are used to losing. Because, for 17 straight years, Bama hadn’t lost a second game before November. And that streak ended in 2024. But now, DeBoer is making a bold move, going all-in on the program’s future. A new era is here and a new challenge awaits. And under DeBoer, Alabama isn’t backing down — it’s coming back stronger.

With powerhouses lining up for the elite 2028 QB, Wonderful Monds IV, Auburn has been pushing hard —but now, Bama is running full speed. And while the race for standout, QB is heating up, Alabama just made its move. Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama sent an offer to Auburn’s QB target. And the offer? Taking to X, he made his excitement loud and clear, writing,” WOW! Blessed and honored to receive an offer from the University of Alabama! #AGTG #RollTide @FBCoachSheridan @CoachShephard.” So, DeBoer just sent a strong message — Alabama isn’t just in the race, they’re here to win it.

However, at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Wonderful Monds IV isn’t your typical incoming freshman. And when he steps onto the field for Vero Beach this fall, he’ll already have the attention of college recruiters nationwide. Moreover, he’s made such a strong impression that his own coach, Lenny Jankowski, couldn’t hold back his praise. “I’ve never seen a 14-year-old kid like this. Honest to God. This will be my 30th year doing this. Talking to guys who know a lot more than I do, they haven’t either. He’s an impressive young man,” said the high school coach.

As of now, with size, talent, and early buzz, Monds is already on the path to stardom. And given that, offers are stacking up, with Miami, FSU, and Florida all in the mix. After a standout performance at a Miami prospect camp, the Hurricanes wasted no time extending an offer. However, UCF followed suit after hosting him at their camp. And now, Monds is the site of an increasingly heated battle.

However, Auburn is still in the mix, and Monds made that clear, saying, “Blessed to receive an offer from Auburn University! #ᴀɢᴛɢ.” But here’s the twist — Kalen DeBoer and Alabama have entered the race. So now, the question looms: Who checks all the right boxes for Monds — Auburn or Bama?

But DeBoer’s offer isn’t just about Monds IV’s talent — it could be a play on family ties too. Safe to say, with Alabama now in the mix, this battle goes beyond the field.

What prompted Kalen DeBoer to make the offer to Wonderful Monds IV?

Football and athletics run deep in the Monds family. You know, Wonderful Monds IV isn’t just a rising star — he’s carrying on a legacy of elite athletes. His father, Wonderful Terrific Monds III, spent seven seasons in the Atlanta Braves minor league system after being drafted in 1993. On top of that, his grandfather, Wonderful Monds Jr., was an All-American at Nebraska before playing defensive back for the San Francisco 49ers. His uncle, Mario Monds, brought his power to the trenches as a defensive tackle for the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals.

Safe to say, with a bloodline like that, greatness isn’t an option — it’s the expectation. And that might be exactly why Kalen DeBoer made his move on Wonderful Monds IV. But it’s not just talent or family ties that make Monds special — it’s his pure, natural ability. And his high school coach put it best.

DeBoer said, “His parents have kept him away from the charge-by-the-hour or charge-by-the-session quarterback coaches. There are a lot of bad mechanics being taught. Parents don’t know. They just see little Johnny going 100 miles to get a training session and my little Johnny should do that. They kept him out of all of that mess.” Talk about shaping an athlete in the right way.

“College coaches see how pure he is. He is special. And He has all these intangibles, but he has the tangibles, too. He is 6-3, 200 pounds. And He can run. He can really throw the football. He really can spin it. It’s pure. It’s not just stuff on Twitter,” DeBoer added.
