Kalen DeBoer finally shares some positive updates about his Alabama team! Earlier this week, Bama fans were a bit rattled by reports of injuries to key players. But now, the Alabama head coach is setting the record straight, with a little help from one player’s mom.
After this Saturday’s second round of scrimmage, there were some concerns about missing players. DeBoer did mention that a few guys were held out for ‘precautionary reasons.’ And this also includes guard Jaeden Roberts, who suffered an undisclosed injury during the scrimmage.
Roberts, a key player on the first-team offense, has been with the Bama roster for four years. Fortunately, DeBoer doesn’t expect Roberts to miss any game. Speaking to the media, DeBoer assured everyone, “Jaeden will be able to play week one….It won’t be anything where he’ll be out for a game or anything.” Now, adding more reassurance, Roberts’s mom, Twanisha, reposted the news on her X handle. She wrote, “Jaeden is doing good. He should be able to practice for the next few weeks and play in the first game! Please say a prayer for quick and complete healing. Thanks and Roll Tide y’all. #77”

Looks like Roberts is basically a lock to start this year. He was in most games last year, starting eight of the 11 games. So losing him would’ve been a huge bummer for Bama. The team is already dealing with another injury problem, as running back Jam Miller is banged up and has to wear a no-contact jersey in practice. If both of them were out, it would’ve been a nightmare for quarterback Jalen Milroe.

Luckily, DeBoer offers more promising words.
Kalen DeBoer oozes optimism ahead of the season opener
Kalen DeBoer is taking his new coaching job seriously. Well, stepping into the shoes of the legendary Nick Saban comes with its own challenges and perks. On one hand, there’s the pressure to maintain Alabama’s winning streak, including their 6 championship titles. On the other hand, DeBoer inherits a winning roster that Saban built. Now, his job is to guide this talent-filled roster to another great season.

On that note, the Crimson Tide’s first practice session under DeBoer got off to a great start. After the first scrimmage, DeBoer shared some positive updates with the press. He was pleased to see how “the ball was spread out a lot” on the field. Well, that’s for good as it shows the team’s strong collective effort. “When plays need to be made, they’re being made,” DeBoer said, praising Milroe and the rest of the team for their hard work. He also noted that it was one of the most physical scrimmages he’d seen in a while.
After a follow-up scrimmage, DeBoer addressed concerns about player injuries, reassuring everyone that the team “got through relatively healthy.” While a few players might miss some practices to recover, he noted that the key players are getting ready for week one against Western Kentucky. Looks like the August 31st match is set for a great show! DeBoer might just start his winning streak with Kentucky this year.
