Okay, so, the Bama vs Vanderbilt game was one heck of a ride. Kalen DeBoer and Co. closed this chapter with 35-40 on the scoreboard. Credit where credit is due; Tide offense did give quite the fight and almost brought it back home. However, what we can say is that coming off of that Georgia win, Kalen DeBoer and his team might’ve gotten a little too comfortable heading into the Dores’ game. While the fans were shocked, someone else looked like he was having a bit of fun watching the final moments of the game.
Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin was spotted glued to the TV screen. Brad Logan took to X to share the snap with the caption; “Ole Miss head coach @Lane_Kiffin watching the final minutes of the Vanderbilt/Alabama game.” Now we have no clue if Kiffin was there admiring Vanderbilt’s tenacity or just laughing internally at Alabama’s disaster performance. However, what we can say is maybe Kiffin was feeling great about his team.

You see, while the entire fanbase was busy watching Bama take on Vanderbilt and Georgia take on Auburn, the Rebels managed to sneak in a 27-3 win over South Carolina. This wasn’t a big shocker as the Rebels, being the No.3 team on the AP polls, had the roster and skill to get it done.
If we look at the stats, it was pure domination through the first and second halves. The Rebels managed to pull in around 285 passing yards. While QB Jaxson Dart made some solid plays, it was JJ Pegues who was the star of the show.

Running for 2 touchdowns, one in the first quarter and the second one in the second quarter, the 325-pound nose tackle managed to hand Kiffin his 100th career victory. It was fun to watch Kiffin and the Rebels bounce back from their embarrassing loss to the Kentucky Wildcats. However, as Kiffin enjoys his new win, we gotta talk about whether Nick Saban himself had jinxed the Bama game or not.
What’s your perspective on:
Did Nick Saban's words jinx Alabama, or was it just overconfidence that led to their downfall?
Have an interesting take?
Was Kalen DeBoer jinxed by the former Tide HC?
Back on September 20th, on The Pat McAfee Show, Nick Saban had mentioned, “The only place you’re going to play in the SEC that’s not hard to play, Vanderbilt.” The former Bama HC had also noted that the fanbase back at the stadium would be in favor of the Tide instead of the Commodores.

Boy, oh boy, did this come back to bite him badly. Vanderbilt managed to wipe the floor with Bama and trampled over the powerhouse to secure a 40-35 win. While the Tide did give the Dores quite the fright in the final quarter of the game, it just wasn’t enough. Vanderbilt’s offense and defense were much superior, and it felt like Bama took this game too lightly. Let’s hope DeBoer learns from this and the team can move forward with a better goal in their mind.
