The recruitment drama continues to dominate college football week 13, with players constantly going back and forth with their suitors. Unless and until the national signing day hits the lore, the volatility around the potential flips will sustain. Alabama Crimson Tide has already taken some elite names on their board, but last week, they faced an unexpected hitch with five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham flipping his commitment from Alabama to Ole Miss. Blame the Rebels’ blowout performance (28-10 win) against the Georgia Bulldogs. But Alabama needs to return the favor. Can flipping 6-foot-4 4-Star DB commit Maison Dunn from Lane Kiffin be the answer?
”Here’s another flip Target on campus that Bama Online confirmed that’s DB Maison Dun committed to all Ole Miss. Ole Miss and Alabama have been going back and forth on the flips. Alabama flips AK Dear and Cunningham flips to Ole Miss. Now you got DB Maison Dunn on campus in Alabama,” said ON3‘s Josh Newberg, highlighting the ego war that has been a recurring theme between the Rebels and the Tide.
The Crimson Tide sits at the No. 2 recruiting class in the country. But that doesn’t necessarily imply that they will sleep on their potential targets. Especially if it is an Ole Miss commit, the effort automatically doubles. Kalen DeBoer and crew are inching near the bullseye. Having a lasting impression on Maison Dunn is now just a matter of time.

”Maison Dunn, that one looks like it’s going to go down to the wire and Alabama continues to give him things to think because look, he was at the win over Georgia, and if that wasn’t enough for him to shut it down, it’s obvious that this thing’s going to come down to the wire and he’s still thinking about Bama,” Newsberg gave the massive green signal to DeBoer.

If DeBoer can really make the kid change his mind, it would be a long-standing strategic success for the former Washington coach in his struggling first year in Bama.
Will Kalen DeBoer be able to flip Maison Dunn from the Rebels?
Dunn has been a class athlete since his days at Tupelo High School in Mississippi. With staggering numbers under his belt, the four-star recruit gave his words to the Rebels back in May, ignoring many other schools like Arkansas State, Minnesota, Mississippi State and Southern Miss, waiting outside his league.

Dunn missed a chunk of the 2022 season due to an injury but mounted a fiery comeback just the next year and resumed as the impact cornerback for the Golden Wave. Dunn has been instrumental behind Tupelo’s defense, restricting the opponents within just 150 points in 12 games, leading the team to a 9-3 record. The current Ole Miss commit scored 21 tackles in 11 games, including one tackle for loss. If you wonder what made him think of bringing all his gifts to the Rebels, entering their 2025 signing class, it was Kiffin’s defensive scheme that won over the lad.

Will Maison Dunn's decision be the ultimate game-changer in the Alabama-Ole Miss rivalry?
Have an interesting take?
Rebels’ versatility in the defensive line is likely to offer him room to play both safety and defensive back. So, the No. 72 corner in the country locked it down verbally. While DeBoer made the counter move in September, it will be a thing to watch out for if Alabama’s relationship and team-bonding flex can beat the other factors for the Mississippi-born.
