“They already have their guy of the future unless his plan is to potentially go to Colorado for a year while they get Julian Lewis ready.” Finding your “dawg” for QB1 is quite the task but for Deion Sanders, it shouldn’t be that big of a headache right? See, the moment Julian Lewis flipped from USC, we knew that Coach Prime had found his starting quarterback. However, when ACC started making inroads, alarm bells went off in our heads. To put it simply: Kaidon Salter‘s recruitment is a “bad business move.” These QB1 shenanigans felt like Deion Sanders grasping at anything visible to keep the Buffs from sinking after Shedeur Sanders goes away. Now the situation has slowly turned from “What will Colorado do now?” to “Who will Colorado play as their starting quarterback?”

But for once, there is a proper answer as to who deserves the mantle. “I don’t want anyone to think that Julian Lewis isn’t capable. You know, I think this job is gonna go to the best man. But I think that you cannot just count Julian Lewis out because of his age, or because he’s a freshman, or because he classified early,” Dukesthescoop points out. If you ask Boulder, the majority would ask for Juju as their QB1 and there is a reason for it. Despite being just a freshman, this guy has one of the most accurate arms we have ever seen – Elite11 bestowed the “Most Accurate Pocket Passer” title on Juju. All of this speaks volumes about the talent Julian Lewis brings to the Buffs roster.

But hey, “Kaidon Salter has the experience. What about that?” Well, the level at which Buffs played and the level at which Liberty played are quite different. See, Salter has the stats. He took Liberty on an impressive 12-win and 8-win run, which is praiseworthy. But Juju? We’re talking about a kid who? As a 14-year-old played in the highest classification.

Even though the quarterback debate feels confusing, Juju makes perfect sense. At the end of the day, Buffs Nation does not need a Shedeur 2.0 – It needs a quarterback who is ready to hurl those throws to bring home a W. Julian Lewis is the perfect candidate for that.

So in the grand scheme of things, where does this put Salter? Is the Buffs’ 1-year parley just another stat padding session for Kaidon or is Deion Sanders looking to copy Steve Sarkisian’s playbook with 2 elite quarterbacks? Evidence points to the latter.

Salter hurling throws in Boulder

Just 3 days back we spotted something interesting: Shedeur was in Colorado, prepping for the Combine when Salter also jumped into the frame. Both QBs were throwing together. But why is this important? If anything, Salter could end up being the perfect backup for Coach Prime.

As we pointed out before, he has the resume and he has the stats. Salter is reliable and, god forbid, if Lewis goes down, Deion will need someone to handle the pressure. And if people are scared about a QB ego clash between Lewis and Salter, then just know that this ain’t happening.

“No promises, all competition, and I’m willing to come in and compete,” Salter had pointed out while talking about Lewis and the QB1 situation. All in all, Deion Sanders has 2 gems in his hands. Lewis has the IQ, EQ, and FA, and Salter has the gridiron experience.

Potentially, we could end up having a Quinn Ewers x Arch Manning situation at Boulder.
