We are back with the Buckeyes. See, Ryan Day and Chip Kelly have been cooking this season. With 9 massive wins and their only loss being to the Ducks, Ryan Day and Co. have secured the 2nd spot on the AP Polls and the CFP rankings. See, we had pointed out before that getting to this spot won’t be easy for Day. The Buckeyes ain’t going up against easy teams. They had to take down Nebraska and then Penn State, and soon, they will be facing off against Indiana. But now, here is the thing; with the games against Iowa or Purdue, or even Michigan State, it looks like people have completely skipped over the fact that the strength of schedule for Day and Co. has been quite rough.
And this is exactly what Josh Pate points out on Josh Pate’s College Football Show. “The Ohio State strength of schedule is off the charts. If you look at this: Oregon, they played them. They played Penn State, they got Indiana on Saturday,” Pate points out. It ain’t no wonder why OSU is in the 2nd spot everywhere. However, that does not mean people should give them a free pass. See, Pate does note that OSU has a shot at having 5 top five wins, but that will only be possible if they manage to win against Indiana.
Now, you might be wondering why there is a sense of doubt in this conversation. See, the committee does not like the Hoosiers. This team is 10-0 and is still ranked below Penn State on the AP polls and the CFP ranking list. You have to keep in mind that the Hoosiers were 3-9 last year.

Curt Cignetti and Co. have managed to turn the entire program around. Now, one argument can be that the strength of the schedule is relatively easy for IU. However, this discussion falls flat when you look at the Nebraska and Michigan games. Ryan Day has a really good shot at stopping the Ducks’ undefeated run, but that will only be possible if they manage to win over IU next weekend.

And as Steve Coughlin pointed out, “I be careful there.” People think OSU and Day will manage to blow Cignetti out of the water, but we have seen the Hoosiers pull off 40+ pointer games against some of the best defenses out there, so they have all the power to dismantle the Buckeyes. Let’s hope Day has a plan for this showdown. On the other hand, as people finally understand and grasp OSU’s SOS, there is another factor that is still underrated about the team, and this time it is specific to a player.
The Buckeyes QB is not in the Heisman race
A few hours back, we had covered an interesting angle; If Dillion Gabriel is in for the Heisman race, then why is Will Howard not? Buckeyes QB Will Howard has had an amazing season so far. While he did fail to start off for Kansas State, Howard managed to turn the tables with what he has managed to pull off with OSU.

Why is Will Howard not in the Heisman race despite his stellar performance this season?
Have an interesting take?
This dude is going 24 touchdowns with over 2400+ yards under his belt. The best part? Dude has the seventh-highest QBR in the entire country. Now, this brings us to what we mentioned before. If you check any Heisman odds list, you won’t find Howard anything.
At best, the dude has around +10000 odds, which makes NO sense. Gabriel has lower stats than Howard but still has a +275 odds for winning the Heisman. This makes you wonder if the Ducks being in that No.1 spot really does affect the odds that much or not. Regardless of what it is, Ryan Day and Co. have all the power to prove people wrong, and we are sure Buckeyes fans cannot wait for it to happen.
