As the playoffs draw closer, Josh Heupel is not currently preoccupied with the CFP rankings. Instead, he is focusing more on the attitude he and his team will have when they take the field. And that is to think that the Vols can fight against anybody, anywhere. Given how heated the race will be under the new, increased 12-team format, that’s also about how it must be.

Sam Rothman posted a video clip on his X account on December 4th, captioning it, “Josh Heupel on CFP rankings.” According to the footage, Heupel said, “There’s a lot of football to be played yet. But if you’re not of the mindset going into this thing of anyone, anywhere, anytime, then you’re just there to have a cup of coffee, anyway.” It only means that the head coach of the Vols updated the record on the playoff attitude.

Reports say Sanders was supposed to announce he’s with the Vols and Heupel on Tuesday night. But Sanders will be postponing things, according to Tom Loy of 247Sports, so it won’t be occurring on Wednesday. Without drawing any hasty judgments, this seems to be the case of a young man who isn’t yet ready to choose between two colleges. Sanders has until Friday to wrap things up and sign during the Early Signing Period, which is December 4-6. The top prospect may have to wait until Feb to make a choice if he determines he needs more time. Until then, let’s wait and watch.
