Can Deion Sanders turn Colorado's football program around, or are the critics right about his coaching skills?

Grab a cup of joe folks cause Deion is back in the news. With the CU opener just around the corner, everyone has their eyes on Deion Sanders and the Buffs. We even got Colin Moore telling us that people on the NCAA board want that money which Coach Prime is gonna pull in. Going from 1-11 in 2023 to 4-8 is a big feat, but it had its fair share of consequences. Every analyst out there dragged the Buffs through the mud, and even though Shedeur Sanders performed solid, he still became the laughingstock with the most sacks that season. All of this was because Deion misjudged the situation.

Now, on Dirty Mo Dough, we got Steve Letarte and Chris “The Bear” Fallica talking about how many wins the Buffs can bring in this year. “I can’t get him over five and a half wins,” Letarte said. Fallica was quick to back him up saying that he also agrees with the entire thing. Deion is not gonna make it over 5.5 wins this year. Fallica’s main concern about the entire thing stems from the fact that Deion is gonna make the same poor decisions he made last year. Something which Matt McChesney had also noted back on July 20th. The main issue was Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter had to do everything on the field. The kids needed a break defensively. Also, their o-line was not strong. Half of the time, Hunter felt exhausted and Shedeur performed poorly when playing from the pocket. However, one interesting thing that Fallica pointed out is that “but all of the new changes on the coaching staff….how is that gonna go.”

This doesn’t make much sense. Are we forgetting the fact that Deion has over 159 years of NFL experience onboard? He has brought in Pat Shurmur, who was with the Broncos before joining CU. Deion also got Warren Sapp on the team who had played in the NFL for around 13 seasons. The list doesn’t end there. Brandon Jordan is there, and Adalius Thomas is there. Arguably Joel Klatt giving Colorado the “dark horse” of Big 12 endorsement is perfect. “They’re really talented,” Klatt had noted. Buffs have one of the best QBs out there and the overall skill position of the other players is near perfect. Klatt’s “Colorado’s gonna win a lot of games!” claim is slowly coming true cause we already got some glimpses of the greatness from the fall camp.

Shedeur Sanders managed to secure a 55-yard pass. Imagine that. It doesn’t end there. Jimmy Horn was the one who caught the ball and to be able to follow through from such a distance is a feat worth some applause. Buffed Prime T-Cal put it perfectly when he shared the clip on X. “Play of the night for me. I can’t stress enough how difficult of a catch this was to track,” he wrote.

Have an interesting take?

Not only that, while other camps like Georgia are struggling with players being worn out or simply injured after the fall camp, Coach Prime brought us some solid news on August 17th. During a press conference, Deion mentioned that no player had suffered any injuries. Coach Prime also had high praise for the offense. His main target during the practice was to handicap the offense to see how well they did while they were exhausted and drained. “I think they did a phenomenal job. I’m proud of them,” he said about the team. Now we just gotta wait for August 29th and hopefully, Coach Prime can finally redeem himself.
