Is Alabama's dominance in jeopardy with Jalen Milroe's exposed flaws?

Can Kalen DeBoer fix Alabama before the Wisconsin clash? Both the teams are yet to face their first loss this season when they meet at Camp Randall Stadium. The Crimson Tide may be heavily favored to win but some things worth pointing out is that they’re playing without Nick Saban and the Badgers will have a home-field advantage. But what set the tone of the game is even more interesting.

No one saw the dig that was coming at Alabama QB Jalen Milroe from Wisconsin DE Darryl Peterson who believes that they can take advantage of the QB’s weakness. Ahead of their matchup on September 14, Peterson said, “We’re looking to just contain the pocket, keep him [Jalen Milroe] in the pocket. Make him throw the ball. We’re gonna be out there to get him down when he starts to run.” Needless to say, this has brought about a warning from a Fox Sports analyst.

In a new episode on The Joel Klatt Show on September 13, Joel Klatt takes into account last week’s record against South Florida when they led by 14-13 at the beginning of the fourth quarter. He pointed out that Alabama’s poor performance was covered up in the final score when they made some final big moves to end 42-16 on the scoreboard. Klatt believes that if O-linemen Kadyn Proctor and Elijah Pritchett are in the next game, Jalen Milroe will be in somewhat safer hands from the Badgers’ defense. “If they’re not in the game then,” he said. “It wasn’t great last week and the penalty showed up. They had some holding calls and they were stagnant for much of the day offensively.”

Joel Klatt’s warning to Kalen DeBoer and Alabama is valid because the Crimson Tide didn’t play like the powerhouse they are in Week 2. After a dominant 63-0 win over WKU in their season opener, Alabama’s weaknesses were exposed in their last game where they received 13 penalties for 120 yards and turned the ball over. But it looks like Kalen DeBoer is composed and optimistic about his team.

Kalen DeBoer reveals Alabama’s preparedness

When Alabama struggled against USF, Kalen DeBoer insisted, “This isn’t a wake-up call or nothing like that… It’s just keep raising the standard.” He also said that it isn’t a “lack of effort” on the players’ side. Nonetheless, they haven’t been doing short of preparing themselves for the upcoming game in Madison.

Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide will be on the road for the first time this season to meet the Badgers. Ahead of their game, the new Alabama HC expressed his confidence in their offensive line in his weekly radio show Hey Coach saying, “We’re in a better position this week than we were last week.” As for the run game, he dropped some mystery saying, “When it comes to the run game, it’s going to be a different type of run game from what we saw last week.” All eyes will be on Jalen Milroe in the next game. Will the O-line give iim time to make plays?
