Is Jimmy Horn Jr.'s talent being wasted on a team that can't capitalize on his masterclass performances?

The Colorado Buffaloes put up a spectacular show last night! With so many expectations from the season opener against the Bisons, the Buffaloes came out on top while facing a fair share of challenges. Players like Jimmy Horn Jr. and Travis Hunter became the stars of the night against NDSU, but will they be able to consistently perform when Colorado locks horns with its biggest rival- the Nebraska Cornhuskers?

Coach Prime’s team came out swinging and eventually took home the victory by a score of 31-26. In the post-game conference, Deion didn’t seem too happy with the team’s performance and said that the win didn’t feel like a win, but was still glad to be on the better side of the outcome. Their next opponent is the Nebraska Cornhuskers who will lock horns with the Buffs on 8th September and already, the odds don’t seem to favor Deion’s team.

Week 1 has been off to an explosive start for Colorado and in Week 2, they will meet the Nebraska Cornhuskers. In the 2023 season, they had a string of good fortune when they went 3-0 by week 3, after which, it all came crashing down. Hopefully, Deion can keep the win streak going for far more weeks this season, but at the moment, the Cornhuskers are predicted to win, as per DraftKings Sportsbook.

Additionally, the Colorado Buffaloes are supposedly opening as a 7-point underdog against the Cornhuskers, which is seemingly fair since the start against the Bisons was a bit shaky on their end too. The mighty efforts of Jimmy Horn Jr. were the highlight of the game. Horn Jr., recorded 7 receptions for 198 yards and one touchdown but played the biggest role in the win when he made a fantastic catch of the game after Shedeur threw the football over 69 yards, converting it to a touchdown. With that being said, the Buffaloes drastically need a win over Matt Rhule’s team since the two teams have such bad blood between them, tracing back to last year.

Last season, things got a bit too intense between Matt Rhule and the team when the HC made a few comments about Deion and the Buffs. The hype surrounding Colorado’s transfer portal isn’t unknown to any college football fan and that’s exactly why Rhule subtly took a dig when he said, “Hear other schools [say] they can’t wait for today, the transfer portal, they can’t wait to go out. I’m not thinking about anybody else but this team out here. [This] program is built on work; it’s not built on hype.”

After which, the Buffs ended up taking home the victory, but not before Shedeur claimed that the win was all the more “personal” because of what he said about his father. A year since the back-and-forth, the two giants will clash yet again. Shedeur and Deion will want to win twice in a row against the team that disrespected them, while Rhule will try to win the Nebraska fans over by proving his mettle against their staunch rivals. All in all, last night’s victory was amazing and the season’s just getting started.
