Can Jimmy Horn Jr. exploit Nebraska's fear of Travis Hunter to lead the Buffs to victory?

Deion Sanders’ wide receivers are on fire! Colorado’s WR Jimmy Horn Jr. and two-way standout Travis Hunter heaped some star power after their game against NDSU in their season opener with great stats. Both delivered stellar plays that earned Deion Sanders’ respect, who called them explosive receivers.

One thing from the game was that NDSU’s fear of Travis Hunter saw him being guarded throughout the game. Still, that didn’t stop this flexible “glitch” from ripping the Bisons’ defense, ultimately resulting in their 31-26 victory. If Nebraska follows a similar plan, On3’s Andy Staples feels that Jimmy Horn Jr. could find another game to upgrade his record.

There could be an opportunity for Jimmy Horn Jr. to shine in their next matchup against Nebraska. In a new YouTube episode on On3 on September 6, Andy Staples found it perplexing that “Travis Hunter 85 and a half more than less than but Jimmy Horn at 67 and a half. Jimmy Horn led them in receiving against North Dakota State.” He also added, “If Nebraska focuses its attention on Travis Hunter, Jimmy Horn probably goes more than 67 and a half.”

Hunter and Horn Jr. delivered spectacular plays in their season opener with four touchdown catches. As far as receiver power went, Hunter finished with 85.5 receiver rating after seven catches for 132 yards and three TDs. Horn trails close behind with seven receptions for a 198-yard career record and one touchdown, racking up a receiver rating of 67.5. Even Deion Sanders cast the accomplishments of Jimmy Horn Jr. in the spotlight.

Colorado vs Nebraska – Who will win the rivalry?

Deion Sanders is entering season 2 of his rivalry matchup with Nebraska after last year’s victory. They’ve already begun the season on a high note, thanks to Jimmy Horn Jr. and Travis Hunter, who skillfully caught Shedeur Sanders’ passes. The Buffs signal caller was a game-changer himself, throwing for 445 yards and four touchdowns. Still, the Cornhuskers also did some touch-ups ahead of their season against Colorado.

Under the navigation of their freshman QB Dylan Raiola, Nebraska is off to a fresh start with a 40-7 win over UTEP. The 19-year-old recorded 238 yards and two touchdowns leading their offense with 507 yards and 30 first downs. Would Nebraska make the same mistake of targeting Travis Hunter while leaving Jimmy Horn Jr. open? He’s already proved his explosiveness on the field. Their matchup will take place on September 7 at Memorial Stadium Lincoln. What do you make of Staples’ insight? Let us know in the comments section below.
