Like vultures around a fresh kill. Ryan Day cannot catch a break. Listen, this natty game had a lot hanging on it. Day was coming off of a Michigan loss and despite trampling those SEC big boys, people still had doubts about the Bucks. Well, they did it. They won. But at what cost? Not only did this natty win put OSU at the top of the ladder, but it also put them in the crosshairs of all the other teams. Fame and fortune follow, but with that also comes poaching. If Ryan Day has some solid players on his roster, everyone would come up with a multi-million dollar offer to grab those players for themselves. This entire “problem” that Day is facing regarding Jeremiah Smith is a stark recreation of what goes on in the NFL…
…“Oh well, it’s pretty similar to what we have in the NFL… it’s called legal tampering period. I think they call it. Uh, when you’re talking to agents, trying to, uh, work out deals with them before, the players are actually allowed to visit, and you’re allowed to talk to them… I mean there’s a lot of a lot of um money promises and opportunity being uh discussed. Um, you know, everybody’s in on it,” UNC HC Bill Belichick pointed out. It has been reported that Smith has received a $4.5+ million offer to hit the portal and switch teams. In hindsight, this ain’t too surprising.

Smith absolutely decimated the competition in the gridiron. You call this guy a freshman? He was pulling 40+ yard touchdown runs like it was practically nothing. With how good his coverage is on the field and how easily he slips past the defense, any team would want him.
Now will Day and OSU let him go? He-k no. This is the next wonder-child coming out of Ohio and why will you risk all that talent? But then again, this situation makes it quite hard for Ryan Day. Not only is Smith being approached, but Carnell Tate has also been hit with a $1 million offer.
Now that NIL has created this “free agent” bubble, any player can jump teams. And you can’t do anything about it. Yes, there will be a lot of tampering accusations, but that’s pretty much it. H-ll, not too long ago even the UNC HC got hit with the same “allegations”.

Bill Belichick’s bittersweet CFB start
Okay, so if UNC even remotely wants to be relevant, they need to do a proper roster and staff change. And Bill knows it. His 400-page organizational bible had details on the required player and staff changes and it looks like he is already pushing forward with it. But there is a slight problem.
Uconn put up one he-k of a show at the Fenway Bowl, but the main star was DL Pryce Yates. 6 solo tackles on the board with a massive sack. It ain’t no wonder why Bill and UNC GM Michael Lombardi were so impressed. So what did they do?

Snatch Yates from the Huskies, that’s all. This entire thing sparked a harsh reaction from HC Jim Mora (which is natural) and Bill was accused of tampering. See, the thing is, Yates was never in the portal. The things money can help you achieve…
