Well, now this is not something that Ryan Day and Ohio State were ready for. After all, the HC could flip the Buckeyes’ narrative. He gifted the Buckeyes with the 2025 National Championship title. But even then as per Coach Day, there is going to be a dilemma with the quarterbacks. Even though Julian Sayin is a top prospect, there are two more competitors in the line. Looks like another factor, rather a player, is stirring the pot in Ohio State’s QB room. It’s Day’s WR Jeremiah Smith. However, a national analyst seems to be super sure that no matter what the threat is, Sayin must be counted upon.

Do you remember what Day had to say about the present situation of the QB room in Columbus? “It’ll be a fierce competition. Lincoln [Kienholz] and Julian, and then Tavien [St. Clair]. We’re excited to see those guys compete.” But looks like On3 analyst J.D.PicKell already has been wooed by Sayin. He was a freshman this past season and is widely considered the favorite to win the starting job in 2025. The analyst sounded all confident, “When you talk about the future in Columbus the thought for me though is with Julian Sayin out of high school. He was considered the most accurate cat in the entire class…Nick Saban wanted him.” Now the GOAT Nick Saban factor is the ultimate response to all the doubters. Looks like Sayin has to fight a little more.

For so long, he had to fight against the other competitors – Lincoln Kienholz and Tavien St. Clair. Now, the Jeremiah Smith factor comes into play. Day will have to pick someone with an accurate throw. But looks like Sayin is not going to face any trouble even if the HC gets too strict in his search. As PicKell stated, “I want the individual who is the most accurate who has the best you know prototypical passer. I suppose on this group like I want Julian Sayin to be the guy throwing Jeremiah Smith the football.” Going by his stats, Sayin has thrown for 300+ yards against Liberty and Poway. Does this mean that Day’s QB battle talk collapses and there is only one winner for the Buckeyes QB1 position?

Julian Sayin gets clean chit from multiple analysts

Like PicKell, another analyst Blake Ruffino too thinks that it’s either Sayin or it’s no one. On his podcast, he stated, “Until Ryan Day tells me that Julian Sayin’s not going to be the starting quarterback at Ohio State, Julian Sayin is the quarterback that I’m thinking that’s going end here.” He thinks like just like always the QB battle is a common sight in Day’s squad. Last year, it was a tough fight between Devin Brown and Will Howard. And we all knew what the outcome was, right?

Even though Brown came off as a clear favorite, the role ultimately went to Howard. Now, this time Sayin has already been compared to former Buckeyes QB Justin Fields. That’s because of how effortlessly Sayin came up with his throws, which reminded the fans of the former player. But did you know that Sayin has already caught up with the NFL hype?

Is Julian Sayin the next Justin Fields, or will Ohio State's QB battle prove too tough?

Have an interesting take?

As NFL Rookie Watch stated, “Multiple NFL scouts reportedly believe Julian Sayin ‘has the talent’ to be a Top-5 pick in the NFL Draft one day.” Not just this, the Ohio State QB found himself among the five quarterbacks who might derail Arch Manning. Josh Pate stated, “It’s got like one of the fastest releases you’ll ever see. There is zip on the ba-l. And it’s not like physically he is the most imposing presence that you’ll ever see but when you watch him play, his game will standout pretty quick.” So, here is how Ryan Day must put down his blinds in case he has any for Julian Sayin.
