It’s Valentine’s Day, and while most athletes are flooding IG with lovey-dovey posts, one post stopped the scroll. No roses, no chocolates—just raw emotion. Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart, who’s been deep in NFL Combine prep, took a moment to shift the spotlight from himself to someone who needed it most. He wasn’t hyping up his draft stock, wasn’t flexing his stats—nah, this was bigger. A little fighter named Myles was facing the biggest battle of his life, and Jaxson Dart made sure the kid knew he wasn’t in it alone.
Myles, a young Ole Miss superfan battling leukemia at St. Jude, had a simple wish—just a little love from his favorite quarterback. His elementary school teacher, Thea Hamilton, took it to IG, putting out an emotional plea to get Dart’s attention. She posted, “Prayers for this future Rebel who loves Ole Miss and sports with all he has! He’s enduring some scary moments with his treatment! Myles, you are so brave and so strong! If anyone can get this message to Jaxson Dart, please ask him to give a shout-out or a message to our toughest little man! He is your biggest fan and this could really uplift him!”

And Jaxson Dart? Man, he came in clutch—just like he does on Saturdays. The Ole Miss QB wasted no time and dropped an emotional, heartfelt message on his IG story, reposting Thea’s post and adding, “Myles, Keep Going Buddy. You are so strong💪 You got this❤” followed by “My Prayers are with you💟.” Just a few words, but to Myles, it was everything. A simple shout-out, a few words of encouragement, but it carried the weight of a thousand touchdowns.
This isn’t the first time Dart has shown this kind of compassion. When Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Braden Waterman, a 17-year-old redshirt sophomore, announced he was cancer-free after battling Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (a rare blood cancer affecting the lymphatic system), Dart celebrated on Instagram with “So happy for you bro!” And just two months ago, when 18-year-old athlete Afu Fiefia’s Ewing sarcoma returned, Dart reposted the news on his Instagram story with the message, “With you all the way brother!” and helped raise funds for his treatment. That’s the kind of teammate and leader Jaxson Dart is. A real Heisman, if you ask.
Now, let’s talk about Jaxson Dart’s future. The man’s stock is hotter than ever, and despite Ole Miss finishing 9-3 in the regular season and missing the playoffs, his draft hype is through the roof. Dart turned heads at the Reese’s Senior Bowl, and some analysts are already putting him ahead of Shedeur Sanders as the QB2 in the 2025 NFL Draft class. The numbers low-key might not back it up too—4,279 passing yards, 29 TDs, but his Reese performance does.
With the NFL Combine creeping up, the Steelers and Jets are circling like sharks. Some mock drafts already have him locked in as a first-rounder, possibly even heading to Pittsburgh at No. 21. But let’s be real—the New York Jets might just have their eyes locked on Dart as their next franchise savior.

If we’re keeping it a buck, the Jets haven’t had a real QB since Broadway Joe. A few guys like Chad Pennington had their moments, but let’s be honest—New York’s QB situation has been a carousel of disappointment. They drafted Zach Wilson in 2021, and three years later, the man got booted to Denver to hold a clipboard for Bo Nix. Even Aaron Rodgers, one of the most gifted QBs of all time, couldn’t save them in 2024.

Now, ESPN’s Rich Cimini is reporting that the Jets are watching Dart closely. “Keep an eye on Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss. He intrigues the Jets,” Cimini wrote. And it makes sense. Dart’s got that gunslinger mentality, that edge, that energy that could fit perfectly in the bright lights of New York.

Dart’s Senior Bowl performance proved he can hang with the best. He threw for over 4K yards, added nearly 500 on the ground, and showed that dual-threat ability that today’s NFL craves. ESPN’s Field Yates even has him as a potential first-round pick, saying, “This projection represents a big rise up the board from where Dart currently ranks outside my top 32, but quarterbacks always have a chance to climb given positional value.”
But here’s where it gets interesting. The Jets still have veteran Tyrod Taylor in the mix, and there’s chatter about them making a move for Kirk Cousins or Justin Fields. So would they really pull the trigger on Dart? If they’re serious about fixing their QB problem once and for all, the answer should be yes.

Jaxson Dart isn’t just making headlines for his draft stock—he’s proving he’s got the heart of a leader, on and off the field. Whether it’s coming through for a young fan in the fight of his life or stepping up under pressure when the game’s on the line, Dart delivers. As the NFL Draft inches closer, one thing is clear: Lane Kiffin’s QB is built different. The Jets might just be the perfect landing spot, but wherever he goes, one thing’s for sure—Jaxson Dart is ready to make his mark in the big boys’ league.
