During the search for a DC, James Franklin was touring a California powerhouse HS when a problem popped into the program. After Harrison Wallace’s loss, Franklin seems to suffer yet another setback. There’s been a change with their target; either a commitment to a different program or a de-commitment. Apparently, the first one. Imagine Franklin losing an exceptional young athlete whose presence on the field demands attention. Standing at an impressive 6 feet 6 inches tall, this rising star is known for his remarkable versatility. A force on both offense and defense, he excels as an edge rusher with a knack for disrupting plays. It seems a major setback for PSU.
Indeed, Wydeek Collier, the PSU target, was smashed by a CFB B1G rival. According to Wydeek Collier’s recent X post, Rutgers is still gaining pledges for the 2026 class. And the three-star athlete/EDGE made his commitment on Sunday to the Scarlet Knights public. “100 percent committed. F.A.M.I.L.Y 🪓🪓🪓,” he stated in his X post. Currently, he is a student at Ss. Neumann Goretti High School. As of now, he will play his NCAA football under HC Greg Schiano. In his junior year, Collier was a dynamic player in his high school.
Collier gained 270 yards and two TDs as a WR. In his defensive career, he recorded 34 tackles and 8 sacks. Two of his most crucial current game attributes to follow are his reach and speed. In high school, Collier’s 40-yard sprint time was 4.6, and his wingspan was 83 inches. His pass-rushing potential is evident from these metrics alone.

However, including three visits during the 2024 regular season, Collier has made several trips to Piscataway. Collier published a list of the top five universities in October 2024, which included West Virginia, PSU, Syracuse, Miami, Florida, and RU. In the end, Rutgers could attract Collier because of his rapport with the coaching staff. And, he believes that as an edge rusher, he would fit well with RU’s defensive strategy.
“I love their coaching staff. I feel real comfortable with them. How they use their defensive ends lets me use all of my skill set,” said the WR. While highlighting Collier’s shortcomings, analyst Ryan O’Bleness gave him regard, stating, “Wydeek Collier is an extremely long and versatile defender off the edge. He is around 6-foot-6, 205 pounds and reports a wingspan of 83 inches. Collier also has a reported 4.6-second 40-yard dash. He is slender and will need to add weight if he plans to play as a true defensive end at the college level, but he has plenty of room to add to his frame.”
It’s safe to infer that Collier’s pledge brings the overall number of pledges for the RU’s 2026 class to three. But what about the wide receiver for Penn State, Harrison Wallace? After PSU leaves, what will happen to the wide receiver?

James Franklin’s wide receiver’s future
The transfer portal has given Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin another offensive weapon for the upcoming campaign. Harrison Wallace, a former wide receiver for Penn State, is moving to Ole Miss. Losing Wallace seems like a major setback for James Franklin.
Wallace, a junior who wore a redshirt, led PSU in WR stats this season. He hauled in 46 receptions for 720 yards in 2024. He also scored four touchdowns. On the transfer site, he was ranked as the 54th best player, per 247Sports. And 16th-ranked as a WR.

Lane Kiffin and his team appear to have put together yet another outstanding transfer portal recruiting class thus far. It is recognized as the second-best portal class after LSU. Wallace is among the receivers who will join Caleb Odom, Deuce Alexander, and De’Zhaun Stribling at Oxford. Let’s see how the former receiver of James Franklin’s PSU performs with the Rebels.
