It’s not wrong to say that Football is an unpredictable game, things go differently when you least expect them, that certainly is the case with Alabama Crimson Tide, Pro Football Focus ranked Alabama’s offensive line as No. 1 in the nation in all of college football. With a versatile QB Jalen Milroe, protecting the team from pass rushers, but now Jalen Milroe has been labeled as a weak QB for Alabamas. Is this a wake-up call for Kalen DeBoer or just a mere misunderstanding?
Today in conversation with @KingDaboll, Brandon Walker, a CFB analyst said: “Tommy Rees is a better coach than Kalen DeBoer for Jalen Milroe as he knew how to plan around a person who is bad at throwing which took him a month or so, with Kalen if he uses Phoenix offense he is going to fail terribly”. Well, it might be true to some extent that Tommy Rees, offensive coordination for Alabamas, did add dynamic gameplay toward Jalen Milroe getting him 11 straight wins and a semifinal against Michigan, which was a big difference in Jalen’s performance. It took him from being benched for 3 weeks to sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting, that’s a lot of improvement.

With the Alabama Crimson Tide entering a brand new era of football under their new coach, Kalen DeBoer is trying to get together an offensive line that has experience and a proven track record of success. DeBoer somehow managed to get former Washington Huskies center Parker Brailsford, who played under him at Washington. This could add value to the team’s offense.

Jalen Milroe was a promising quarterback last season. He threw for 225 yards and had an 81% completion percentage on his touchdowns. That performance led to an amazing end of the season for Jalen. Jalen has high hopes for him as a quarterback, he mentioned his desires and also areas where he needs improvement. Jalen also mentioned in an interview how he sees the game, “But for me, I want to master the game of football. Run game, passing game, pass protection, run schemes. I want to see football through the lens of an offensive coordinator or head coach” With recent remarks it’s hard to place any guess.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Jalen Milroe really the future of Alabama football, or just another overhyped player?
Have an interesting take?
With proper guidance Jalen Milroe can do wonders in the coming season as Rees did for him, Jalen said in an interview with ESPN “All the questions about our quarterbacks, whether we were good enough and what our identity was on offense, and you’ve got to give Coach Rees a lot of credit for pushing the right buttons with everybody, not just me” But now the bigger question is how Rees is going to identify Jalen Milroe’s abilities, is letting him play his game on his terms will be a drawback for the Alabama Crimson Tide or can be a gamechanger? Only time will tell.
