Arch Manning vs Quinn Ewers. The debate has been a recurring theme in the College football periphery for a while. After the SEC championship game, the cry reached an all-time high, with fans vehemently asking if Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns are moving on from Quinn Ewers and giving the secret ace in the hole, Arch Manning, the center stage. The question remains unanswered, but Quinn Ewers is reportedly in a dilemma. After a lot of injury bugs cut his season short, and he made some garbage plays against Georgia, letting the Bulldogs have the upper hand. Quinn knows his Texas days are unofficially over after this season. Now, it begs the question: what’s next? The latest intel says the QB phenom is still juggling between two choices and for a reason.

On Saturday, Texas received a blow of 22-19 from Georgia in the crucial SEC Championship match. The defeat directly led the team to a place to miss out on the first-round bye. The No. 5 Longhorns are set to host No. 12 Clemson. While we can’t just blame it on the QB1, it is undebatable that Ewers fell flat on the expectation throughout an underwhelming game. He threw for 358 yards and a touchdown, along with two interceptions.

But getting sacked six times was another level of humiliation both in his resume and the program’s history. Will he just stay silent and move on to a new endeavor? Well, a new report by NFL Rookie Watch suggests he will. But he’s just confused about which way to go: a high-flying NFL jump or the transfer portal hit to avail another year of his remaining college football tenure.

What’s the dilemma with Ewers? Well, it starts with the fact that he has another year of eligibility left. However, with Texas ready to move on to Manning, returning to Longhorns may not be possible. Moreover, any move to the NFL may not work as many scouts feel that Ewers has a lot to gain by spending another year in college football.

The situation calls for a resemblance to Jalen Milroe’s uncertainty in Alabama. The Tide quarterback has been undergoing a similar catastrophe, and he has to make a decision between the NFL and the transfer portal. However, for Ewers, it’s more of a complex call, as Arch Manning competition lurks behind.

On the flip side of the coin, Manning kept on giving every reason for his coach to give him a chance. Despite snuggling into the backup spot for a while, the blueblood athlete didn’t even consider jumping ship. He had offers, but Texas is his dream team to score for.

Sarkisian received a lot of backlash for his decision to hold Manning back, and any time could be a saturation point for him going forward. Especially with a shot at the national title on the line and after Quinn’s repeated fiasco, perhaps Sarkisian would be wise to roll the dice on the 19-year-old. But it’s, in either case, will be too late to be strict on Ewers’ issue.

You can argue that Quinn Ewers has been having an unlucky season, as multiple injuries got the better of him. But the way Sarkisian was indecisive with him didn’t sit well with many community players, and quite rightfully so. After the Longhorns’ first defeat against the Bulldogs, Ewers has come far. He showcased enough resilience to be trusted again.

However, former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel believes coach Sarkisian should not have immediately checked on him and announced him as the starter quarterback after sending him to the sideline before halftime.

”Coach Sark has come out and said that (Ewers) is his guy, he’s our starter, so, at no point throughout would I ever think I would see him have to go to the bench, I thought this was a really weird decision,’‘ Manziel vented out his disgust on Action Network.

The situation involving the 21-year-old has, throughout, been messy. Only a wise NFL call or the CFB portal call can fix him right now, and for that matter, Arch Manning as well.
