How long has it been? 2 months? Since we first talked about the Carson Beck vs Quinn Ewers thing. See, when we picked up this conversation first, we pointed out that Quinn Ewers still had a long way to go if he wanted to stand a fair chance against Carson Beck. Were we wrong? Longhorns losing 15-30 to Georgia and putting a stain on their undefeated run says otherwise. Yeah, you will argue that Beck threw way more interceptions than Ewers, but at the end of the day, the Dawgs won. Now, see, here is the problem. While it is true that after that game, both of these guys had their downfall mid-season and also managed to make a comeback, it still isn’t good enough to say that they are ready for what the NFL has to offer.
And this time around, Mel Kiper makes a lot of sense when he pushes the idea of Beck and Ewers going back to college football. “I think, you know, to me, you know, I think it’s important that these guys and I think they should go back. I’ve said this all along. I think play as much college football as you possibly can,” Kiper pointed out on ESPN First Draft. It is important that these guys play at least another season with the Dawgs and Longhorns and get those snaps in cause from what we have seen this year, they just aren’t up to the mark for the NFL pressure. Ewers has been injured multiple times this season.

And this has been a major problem for the Longhorns and Steve Sarkisian. While Texas did manage to win against Texas A&M, you could clearly see that he was struggling because of his legs. Even Ben Shipley, from the Longhorns staff, agreed that Ewers and his injury-prone nature is a kind of liability to the entire team.
For Beck? God knows what he was doing mid-season. He went without any touchdowns against 2 major SEC teams this season (Longhorns and Ole Miss). Not only that, if you check his overall completion and passes landed, you can see a straight downfall from 70+% (early into the season) to 60+% by the end of it.
These guys are professionals, and sticking back will give them the experience they need to lead an NFL team. However, Beck and Ewers aren’t the only problem child this season. While talking about all of this, Kiper dragged in another SEC team quarterback.
Ain’t a good day to be Jalen Milroe

Who made this Milroe a quarterback? Imagine having more rushing touchdowns than passing touchdowns. Jalen Milroe is an anomaly, and it is kind of wild that Bama’s future sinks and swims based on how he performs.
Over the entire season, Milroe has been average at best. Against Georgia, he put up one of his best performances, but then you roll the Oklahoma game tape and you wonder if both of them are the same person or not.
From 81% completion and 2 touchdowns against the Dawgs to 42% completion and 3 interceptions against a 5-loss Sooners team. Ain’t no wonder why Kiper mentioned, “I don’t care how he finishes, go back to Alabama. Go back to playing more college football.”

All 3 of these QBs need a little bit more time in the microwave. These are not bad players, but they just aren’t ready for the NFL snaps. One more season at Bama, Dawgs, and Longhorns, and they finally will be ready.
