All good things should come to an end. Maybe Alabama Crimson Tide’s quarterback Jalen Milroe decided that it’s now or never. Being one of the most physically gifted quarterback prospects, he thought of trying his luck in the NFL. At the start of the year, he made the announcement that he would forgo his senior season. In this flip, Milroe had been a lucky one.

After all, he had the blueprint of his namesake, Jalen Hurts, to follow. But looks like the Alabama QB is not going to have a smooth start. Apparently, Milroe’s luck with the Cleveland Browns is shining bright, thanks to an old connection. But someone has thrown cold water on the possibility.

From the very beginning, Milroe has been sincere about raising his stocks. Even though he walks in with a satisfactory resume- 16 touchdowns and 2,844 yards with a 64.3 completion percentage, he did not rely on his stats. He had signed up with Klutch Sports, the NFL agency. Meanwhile, Milroe has been linked to the Browns due to his history with newly named offensive coordinator Tommy Rees. After all, we have seen the pair team up for a very successful season. But is Milroe’s landing in the Browns final?

Well, looks like SEC insider Chris Marler has some different plans for Milroe. On That SEC Football Podcast, he shared, “I still think he’s going to go in the first round and that’s not because I think he deserves to. I think that he is a quarterback that is going to go to Indianapolis.” As per the reports, the Colts will enter the 2025 NFL draft holding the 14th overall pick. Yes, Milroe running the 40 would make any NFL GM go head over heels. However, Marler sounded an alarm, “How many d- – – – – s early first-round draft picks have we seen at quarterback?” On that note, he had a suggestion for Milroe.

“What he needs is to go in the second or third round. Go to a place where he can get developed and sit like the bench and see if he can develop into a better quarterback,” advised Marler. But what led to skepticism clouding Milroe’s stocks? His Senior Bowl performance. While the quarterback’s impressive size and throwing power are still a big advantage, his accuracy still remains a concern. So, even though Milroe’s heart craves to be in Cleveland, NFL fans may already be seeing him in the Colts. After all, he shares a strange familiarity with an Indianapolis legend.

The big Jalen Milroe analogy with Indianapolis legend

What’s your perspective on:

Is Jalen Milroe the next Anthony Richardson, or will he struggle to find his NFL footing?

Have an interesting take?

Milroe’s athleticism has drawn comparisons to Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson. Why so? Research says both the players have found themselves at the crossroads of rare physical traits and their consistency as a passer. ESPN’s Charles Davis has been vocal about the similarity, which became more prominent after Milroe’s feat at the Senior Bowl practice on January 28.

“To me, there’s some Anthony Richardson in what we’re talking about. Big arm. Accuracy has to be discovered in some ways, but when he takes off and runs, defenses have issues, and that’s what he has going for him right now,” stated the analyst. Well, it’s true. The Alabama quarterback’s performance in the practice in Mobile has been a mixed bag. Milroe constantly struggled to connect with receivers, even in low-pressure drills.

But let’s now focus on the good part of the Jalen Milroe vs. Anthony Richardson debate. This comp comes with the potential reward for NFL teams willing to bet on Milroe’s raw talent. After all, Richardson became a top-four pick despite similar pre-draft concerns. Here, the Alabama QB has the power to dominate with his legs and flash a cannon of an arm which has made the NFL scouts not take their eyes off him. Sadly, outpacing Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward won’t be a walk in the park.
