Can Jalen Milroe reclaim his status, or is Ryan Williams the new face of Alabama football?

The crown jewel of Alabama has seemingly lost its shine. Jalen Milroe, the quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide, has been with the program for over the past 4 years and will be playing his final season this year before going to the NFL in 2025. As such, his reputation and numbers in college football have never mattered more, but it looks like his talents are being overshadowed by his teammate, Ryan Williams, whose performance has taken everyone by storm. Williams is a star within the Alabama roster and, at just 17 years of age, is putting other players to shame.

In the past 3 games, Williams has caught 10 passes for 285 yards and finished 4 touchdowns, surpassing the limelight on Jalen Milroe as Alabama’s prodigy. “He’s the truth,” is what the Alabama QB, Jalen Milroe, had to say about his teammate, as it looks like Williams will be the poster boy of Alabama after he leaves for the NFL.

On 16th September, Michael Casagrande, the senior sports for al.com, took to X and pointed out the distinctive stats for both Milroe and Williams. His tweet for Milroe read, “Jalen Milroe is among the 17 FBS QBs who have thrown at least 8 touchdowns. Among those, Milroe is 1 of 3 who hasn’t thrown an INT.” Next, he pointed out the staggering stat of Williams since he leads the nation in yards per catch and wrote, “Alabama WR Ryan Williams leads the nation in yards per catch among those with at least 7 receptions. Williams is averaging 28.5 yards in 10 catches.”

Thus, a new dawn of the Alabama Crimson Tide is coming soon, and with newer personalities like Kalen DeBoer and Ryan Williams at the helm, the fans in Tuscaloosa can put their blind faith in their capabilities. With that being said, here’s what Nick Saban had to say about the talents of Ryan Williams.

It’s interesting how the initials of Williams and Ryan are an acronym for WR, making it hysterically possible that the 17-year-old was born to play this position. At the moment, he is nothing less than a boon for the Alabama Crimson Tide since they landed Williams on their team with a year of high school still left in his tenure. The former HC for Alabama has seen Williams play and could not help himself from exclaiming upon the skills that he brings to the table.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Jalen Milroe reclaim his status, or is Ryan Williams the new face of Alabama football?

Saban has great admiration for the youngster and said, “Ryan Williams is a mature competitor, man. He’s one of the most mature kids I’ve ever recruited. As a freshman, he showed maturity. For a 17-year-old guy, this guy is explosive. He’s got great hands. He can run after the catch.” Thus, there is no doubt about the fact that Milroe was the spine of the Alabama team throughout the tenure of Nick Saban, but as the new generation is coming to light, players like Ryan Williams will be looked on to by the fans, and it looks like the new era has begun taking form already.
