Big day for Alabama football as they take on the LSU Tigers. The ongoing season hasn’t been easy for the new head coach, Kalen DeBoer and his star QB Jalen Milroe. Both know how to turn their haters into fans with their actions. After struggling against Vanderbilt and Tennessee, Milroe bounced back against Missouri. But we know Milroe was struggling for real, and the former head coach Nick Saban did not hold back from sharing his thoughts. “They want to make plays. But they don’t need to be having a shooting guard mentality. They need a point guard mentality. Have 13 assists in a game and no turnovers. That’s good quarterback play”, Nick Saban said on ESPN College Game Day. Amid all this, the captain drew attention for another reason. SEC Network shared a beautiful video of Milroe spotlighting his tough upbringing.
The video explained his entire journey and also answered who helped him make him the man he is today. “They’re both a big impact on my life and I just try to give them their flowers as much as possible,” Milroe said for his parents. Did you know he is a military kid? Like every other child, his parents are his heroes. “I’ll say my upbringing was tough in the sense of just discipline, discipline being motivated, detail oriented.” His parents are proud of their branches. His dad was in the United States Marine Corps, where he saw combat overseas in Iraq. His mother, Lola, was in the medical field for the United States Navy. Both served the nation while raising their own families. So inspiring!

Milroe remembered his dad’s message and said, “Because my dad taught me this. He said, You don’t; you don’t listen to the volume of what the speaker is giving you. Listen to the message.” Now we know how he is so focused on the field. Everyone has to go through a bad phase; probably, the early part of the season was for him. He already made a comeback before the bye week. It will be interesting to see how he performs today. Before that, let’s hear a special message for his mom.
“My mom is giving me strength because she’s been through so much in her lifetime, whether it’s being in the military, whether it’s the process of getting her two masters. Raising me when my dad was fighting, all she do is put a smile on her face, like that. I never tell her, like, how much I appreciate her, but like, it takes a special person to always keep a smile on her face no matter, like, what they’re dealing with.” This is such a beautiful message. His words are enough to express his love for his family, especially for his mother. Being an athlete is not easy. From being a disciple to taking criticism, one should know everything. Moving on, let’s hear what his parents think about his journey.

Is Jalen Milroe making his parents proud?
The past few weeks were not easy for the leader, but where does he get his leadership qualities from? Obviously, it has to be his parents. They are the real heroes of his life. Did you know Milroe was born on a Marine Corps base at Nvala Hospital? How can he not have all the qualities an officer has? Since he was young, his parents have instilled all the qualities like discipline and good manners in the player and his siblings.
“Of course, as a parent, you try to instill great values and things into your children, but you never really know if they’re absorbing it, if they’re actually listening to you. So when we hear and see him, you know, paying homage to us, it’s very humbling, and we’re very proud of him.” His mother said proudly in the video shared by SEC Network. His mother also noted down such an important message: “Some things that we learn in the military are that you only get strong as strong as your weakest link.” His parents notice everything he does on and off the field.

What’s your perspective on:
Can Jalen Milroe's military upbringing be the secret weapon Alabama needs to conquer LSU today?
Have an interesting take?
His father is not different from his mom. “We’re going to throw a ball 100 times; continue to throw it, make sure you put in the right spot. So Jalen was comfortable knowing that he can put the ball anywhere he wanted to. You had to put extra work in just doing what, what the practice was for the day is not enough.” The comments clearly tell us the involvement of his parents in his life. Coming back to the game, it is a very big day for the Tide as well as LSU. Who is winning? Any prediction, guys?
