“Well, Jalen Milroe is a fantastic competitor.” Yes, the warning came from Jalen Milroe’s ex-mentor Nick Saban. Thank god, the QB did not move past the former Alabama HC’s watchful eyes. Otherwise, college football fans would have missed one big chapter from Tuscaloosa history. Last season, Milroe did turn heads with his last-minute touchdown throw to Ryan Williams.
While he has proved himself in college, a big test awaits him in the pro league. That’s when he has been linked to a $6 million NFL giant. After all, Milroe’s fate seems to have some connection with Aaron Rodgers. Now, not everything is turning in the Alabama QB’s favor as he got a Pro Day ultimatum.

A special feast for Jalen Milroe with $6 billion NFL giant
The 22-year-old did spend a lot of time sitting behind Bryce Young in 2021 and 2022 before winning the starting job in 2023. It was then that Milroe got the chance to soar high as he led the Crimson Tide to an SEC championship. Now that he has wrapped up his college football career, the pro league now has its doors open for him. Right now, Pittsburgh Steelers comes off as the frontrunner to land Milroe. Here comes a surprising update from Yahoo Sports. “Jalen Milroe had dinner tonight in Tuscaloosa with Steelers HC Mike Tomlin, GM Omar Khan, and QBs coach Tom Arth ahead of his Alabama pro day, per @tompelissero 👀.”

Woah, sharing the same dinner table! Doesn’t that count as enough hints? Well, Milroe is a projected day two who has not helped his stock over the course of the draft season. When it comes to his wooing skills, the two-time captain knows how to be humble and strong-willed at the same time. Now is the Alabama QB enough to reel in more support than Rodgers? Looks like the Steelers are already fed up with the 41-year-old – as longtime Pittsburgh Steelers defensive captain Cameron Heyward confessed: “I ain’t doing that darkness retreat. I don’t need any of that c–p. Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t. It’s that simple.” The four-time NFL Most Valuable Player is on the open market. But where does Milroe stand?
If the Steelers seek their quarterback in the draft, they’ll get their first chance at Pick No. 21, barring a trade. Now in case, Mike Tomlin and Co. are looking for a rookie, does Milroe stand a chance? Definitely. He finished with 6,016 passing yards and 45 passing touchdowns, the seventh-most in program history for both categories. Plus, the Alabama QB accumulated 7,593 total career yards to rank fifth in program history and recorded 78 career touchdowns (45 passing, 33 rushing) to rank fourth in Crimson Tide history. In this case, the storied history of the Bama squad is also going to boost his Steelers’ fate.
Four Alabama alumni started at quarterback in NFL games during the 2024 season. Tua Tagovailoa with the Miami Dolphins, Jalen Hurts with the Philadelphia Eagles, and Bryce Young with the Carolina Panthers. Now as Trevor Lawrence is out with injury, Mac Jones started seven games for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now will the quarterback-hungry Steelers take Milroe’s Pro-Day ultimatum seriously?

A missed opportunity by Jalen Milroe
When it comes to his on-field shenanigans, Milroe has struggled with processing and accuracy in his Alabama tenure. Then came his turn to woo the NFL scouts at the Combine. As the throws got deeper, Milroe looked more and more comfortable, hitting receivers in stride and with room to run. It was evident that he became more confident in his own skin. The Alabama QB even nailed two 25-yard sideline throws where the receivers both toe-tapped for completions. However, a big exam awaited him.
That’s Alabama’s Pro Day which is scheduled for March 19. While the stage is ready, Milroe’s arm firmly remains a work in progress. Now is not a good time to dig up some old stories. However, it’s not old. But his feat from a few days back. Penn State’s tight end turned analyst Adam Breneman dished out an ultimatum. “The NFL Combine was the perfect location for a player like Milroe, but he did not run the 40. Milroe needs the Pro Day to sell teams with his athleticism like Anthony Richardson did a couple years ago.”

Well, just like Jalen Milroe is gaining the NFL pre-draft limelight, Anthony Richardson too walked down the same road. While he ended up with the Indianapolis Colts as the No.3 overall pick, his NFL career did not blossom well. Here comes another snub from ESPN analyst Mel Kiper who came up with the 2025 NFL draft Big Board rankings. In the list of lucky 25, the Alabama QB failed to make the cut. Not just this. The analyst had a special ranking at the QB position where Milroe held the No.7 spot. Now the question is – Will the Steelers hold themselves back from turning to Milroe to satisfy their QB hunger?
