Does Shedeur Sanders' blame game show a lack of maturity compared to Jalen Milroe's accountability?

Alabama Crimson Tide’s unbeatable four-game streak came to an end after falling to Vanderbilt on Saturday. But a week before that, what a game they had against Georgia! Jalen Milroe truly shined out in that game. After throwing 374 yards and two touchdowns in that game, analysts started saying, “Milroe is vying to be the No. 1 quarterback in the 2025 class.” And how can we forget his dramatic 75-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Williams with only 2:18 left in the game? But then comes Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt. It didn’t go that well for Kalen DeBoer’s team. Naturally, fingers get raised after such a tough loss, and there was an obvious villain: the defense. However, Jalen Milroe didn’t point any fingers and instead took responsibility for the loss. That quality has found its admirers.

A former NFL scout, Daniel Kelly, shared an ‘X’ post, saying, “Notice the difference between what Alabama QB Jalen Milroe says in this link about a pick 6 he threw vs. Vanderbilt x.com/firstroundmock versus what Shedeur Sanders implies on a pick 6 he threw vs. Nebraska. Accountability counts. 2025#NFL.” He shared the link of Alabama QB Jalen Milore’s recent appearance with the media after Vanderbilt’s loss.

Jalen Milroe took accountability for the pick-six he threw against Vanderbilt. The play happened as the Tide QB went for a pass-attempt to his WR Ryan Williams. However, the ball got deflected high in the air, and Brandon Fontenette caught it for a 29-yard return.

That was a rare interception thrown by the Bama QB this season, and he could have pointed out that the whole blame doesn’t lie with him. However, Milroe is a leader, and he showed that leadership when he said that he could have made it easier for Williams. That’s the kind of leadership an NFL team looks for in a rookie QB, and Jalen Milroe is already showing that in college football.

On the other hand, we have Shedeur, who had a similar moment in the Buffs’ Week 2 game, and the response was the opposite of what Jalen Milroe did. Let’s see how Shedeur approached the whole situation.

Shedeur Sanders’ response was opposite of Jalen Milroe’s approach

The Colorado Buffaloes’ game against Nebraska became the talk of the town. Of course, not for good reasons. Faced with a 10-28 fall to the Cornhuskers, Colorado’s star Shedeur Sanders got tons of trolling from fans. Well, he gave all the reasons for it. Although he was 23- of 38 with 244 passing yards, he found the end zone only once. Add to that, an Interception.

But that was not the reason for the backlash. Firstly, Sanders could not even wait for the game to end. Initially, people thought he might have gotten injured because he started walking toward the locker room minutes before the game ended. “What time is it?” Some Nebraska fans even chanted when he was leaving the field.

Secondly, after the game, when he was asked about his pick-six, he said it was a “rookie mistake.” He further added he was a “little banged up.” Talking about his pass to freshman Miller. That’s the same thing Kelly discussed in his tweet. That’s not it. Shedeur even put his O-line under the scanner and called it out for failing to protect the QB. These things must be limited to the locker room. Out there in front of the media, you back your guys, and Shedeur didn’t do that. However, the Buffs star learned his lesson in the next game and walked to the press conference with the members of his O-line, who stood behind their QB as he answered the media’s questions. A show of unity? Let’s hope it continues, and we get better leadership from Shedeur. He can surely take some leaves out of Jalen Milroe’s playbook!
