Forever Roll Tide! In 2025, Jalen Milroe won’t be returning to Bama. Milroe, a Crimson Tide starter for 2 years, has one year of eligibility left. Declaring for the NFL Draft is one of the hardest decisions a college athlete has to make. You account for everything, and the biggest question? You ask yourself: am I ready? Of course, Bama’s QB1 got the answer in a ‘Yes’, and here we go! Draft it is!

However, before the draft announcement, Kalen DeBoer’s captain had one last opportunity to impress the scouts. A ReliaQuest Bowl game against Michigan Wolverines. A second meeting for the two in 2024. The last meeting, in Rose Bowl, hadn’t gone well for Milroe. A chance to win a national championship for Nick Saban, the Bama squad lost in the overtime (20-27). Well, this Bowl game was worse, in some sense. A 13-19 loss looks good on paper, some would say. With the loss, Alabama fell to its lowest point in 17 years, and supporters called for immediate action against head coach and Jalen Milroe. And we got action indeed! Milroe won’t be returning next year.

This is a daring move because Jalen Milroe has declared that he will forego his senior season with the Tide in favor of declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft. Even the official site of Bama has confirmed this news. However, Milroe was a red-shirt junior in 2024 and has already completed his college degree. As of now, he only appeared in four games as a freshman in 2021, which allowed him to return for another season of collegiate football. However, he chose to enter the NFL too soon rather than remain at Alabama since his supporters were unhappy with him, risking his career in the process.

Football has always been my passion, and since I was a kid, I dreamed of competing at the highest level. Through every win, every tough loss, and any criticism along the way, my love and dedication to this game has never wavered. Every day, my gratitude for the opportunity to play this sport I love only grows stronger. With that said, I am declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.” Milroe wrote in his letter of gratitude.

The two-year starter is going to be an intriguing draft pick. In 2024, Milroe was 205-of-319 for 2,844 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. In addition, he ran 168 times for 20 touchdowns and 726 yards. He will be remembered for his brilliant outbursts as Alabama’s quarterback, particularly when he was running and passing deep. Even if the quarterback’s game versus Michigan in the bowl game this year was a roller coaster, you can’t let one year determine your fate, can you?

It’s safe to say that his decision to leave early did not sit well with CFB fans either. They want him to continue playing collegiate football for another season. And for that reason, people expressed their indignation toward Jalen Milroe on social media.

They did it to themselves.” The biggest wake-up call for the Bama offense should have been the decline that began following the Vandy loss.
