Jaden Rashada is currently one of the top QB prospects in the transfer portal. With Gunnar Stockton poised to be running the show at Georgia this season, he knew it was time to leave. Once he landed on the market, head coaches like Bill Belichick wasted no time swaying his interest. But it seems like Rashada might be gracing a wildcard yet struggling program. If you thought UConn or Fresno State, you’re wrong by a long shot.

Rashada’s CFB career is dotted with quite a number of programs. Rashada was committed to Miami by June 2022. 6 months later, he signed a letter of intent with the Florida Gators in 2023. He finally began his freshman year at Arizona State instead, in July 2023. He had some playing time with the Sun Devils, throwing for 485 yards and four touchdowns in 2023. But Rashada once again dipped into the transfer portal, where he found a home in Georgia.

Unfortunately, the move backfired on him. Rashada sat out for the whole of 2024. Even with an injured Carson Beck in the SEC Championship game, it was Gunnar Stockton who filled in. Moreover, Stockton is the inevitable QB1 pick at Georgia now. So, Rashada has once again packed up and was back in the portal for a second time.

Can the third time be the chance Rashada wanted all along? Forgoing formidable programs in CFB, Rashada has announced his commitment to Sacramento State, of all programs. He just canceled a visit to UNC, just before the scheduled date. On3 displayed a 100% chance of Rashada landing with the Hornets. Prior to Rashada announcing his commitment, other teams listed in his offers also disappeared. But how Sacramento State managed to get Rashada, by defeating a program like UNC is a question that’s popping up in many fans.

Fans have put their detective hats on, theorizing that the only way this could be possible was if money was involved. “Sac state had money don’t they? Gonna put them on the map,” wrote one user. And it’s true; the Hornets, who currently hold a 3-9 record, can become a more prominent team with Rashada on the roster. Interestingly, Rashada’s No. 1 opponent, the Florida Gators, also commented, “No surprise they have over $50 million in NIL. Definitely looking for a bag.” In every way, that was a dig at the QB’s lawsuit against Billy Napier, which has a major update in its turn of events.

Jaden Rashada will see Billy Napier in court soon

After the court rejected a dismissal plea by Florida, it announced a court date for the trial to officially begin. On3 reported, “According to Mitch Gilfillan, a court date has been set for the lawsuit between Jaden Rashada and Florida head coach Billy Napier. The trial will take place on July 20, 2026, while all depositions must be presented by Oct. 1, 2025.” As much as Napier and Florida wanted the matter to go away, Rashada must be just as happy. The beef between both parties just got more interesting.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Jaden Rashada's move to Sacramento State a career-defining gamble or a strategic masterstroke?

Have an interesting take?

Rashada is suing Napier and NIL boosters for $13.8 million. The saga, which is the ground for the lawsuit, is as follows. Rashada agreed to jump ship to Florida from Miami for a NIL deal worth the mentioned amount promised in December 2022. The QB, however, alleges that he never got the full payment and only received a measly $150,000. Rashada had to exhaust that amount too, having to pay off a Miami booster for pulling out of the program. In all, Rashada doesn’t have a dime of what he was promised by Napier.

While pursuing Napier’s $13.8 million offer, he ditched Miami’s $9.8 million offer that was already on the table. So, from 2022, Rashada has been quite the busy bee, jumping from program to program. Now, as a Hornet, can Rashada find a steady home for the rest of his career?
