Isaiah Bond has officially entered that ‘watch me now’ zone. He’s not just speed in a jersey. He’s been telling people straight up—“There’s not a receiver that has the speed and capabilities that I have. It’s not just speed; I’m a complete wide receiver. I have amazing routes. If you watch the tape, you’ll see that.”
The 21-year-old WR lit up Texas’ Pro Day, running a pair of 4.3s in the 40-yard dash (4.34 and 4.35 to be exact). He caught everything thrown his way. Crisp routes, no drops, smooth breaks. It was the kind of show that makes scouts sit up straight. And let’s not forget. He already turned heads at the NFL Combine with a 4.39. And he’s got his college resume to back it up too. Started out at Alabama, became a force in the SEC, and then brought the same energy to Texas. We’re talking 99 catches for 1,428 receiving yards and 10 TDs in his collegiate career. But why a change in the program?
On April 5, Isaiah Bond hopped on Nightcap with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson. And that’s where things got personal. When the former NFL TE asked him about the big transfer from Bama to Austin, he kept it all the way real. “With Nick Saban’s departure from the school, I felt like it was a great business move for my career to head to another school,” he said. “The first day I was down there in Austin, I loved everything about it. I actually committed my first night there. Sark kind of, we kind of carried our relationship over from high school so it just felt organic. It felt like it was love and like it was the best decision.” He couldn’t have gotten more real.

Then Shannon Sharpe continued to hit him with the follow-up—“Had Coach Saban not left Alabama, would you have stayed, or you was looking for a change of scenery regardless?” Isaiah Bond didn’t hesitate. “If Nick Saban would have stayed, I would’ve stayed too.” That’s loyalty. That’s how much respect he had for the guy who built a dynasty. But once Nick Saban walked away, he had to make a move, not just for comfort but for his career. But not everyone’s been showing him love lately.
On March 24, Isaiah Bond received a scathing remark from an anonymous scout, which NFL insider Bob McGinn shared. “Prototypical what would think of in a wide receiver: Just generic boilerplate, selfish, diva, wide receiver.” Harsh stuff. Shannon Sharpe brought it up on the show, and the Longhorns star didn’t duck the smoke.
“I don’t know where that came from,” he said. “But I played under the GOAT Nick Saban. I think people know how he carries himself and how he disciplines his athletes and with getting quality time as a freshman, even starting year 2… That really goes to show this type of guy I am and how I carry myself to come in 17 years old to a program like that and just to carry myself with higher character, getting extra reps and really just proving myself.” And he did earn it.

Isaiah Bond is getting high recognition from NFL teams
As a true freshman at Bama, Isaiah Bond had 17 catches, then doubled that up with 48 the next year. His grind started young, and put in extra reps, showing up with high character and a no-nonsense attitude. He also dropped something that people really needed to hear. This past season, he played with a grade 3 high-ankle sprain. When some advised him to shut it down and protect the bag, he chose to suit up for his teammates. “I chose to stay and fight with my teammates and win a National championship,” he said.
Still, Isaiah Bond managed to record 34 catches for the Longhorns for 540 yards and five TDs. Sometimes it’s about the fight and not the stat line. So now, his schedule is packed. He’s lined up eight NFL team visits—Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans, and Los Angeles Rams. The Bills are already deep in — they had dinner with him in Austin and a private workout that followed with a visit looming on April 15.
